Conte encouraged our players to break up play and slow down the tempo. Pretty sure it was confirmed in an interview or 2.

So on top of having no pace, we actively avoided being direct. Suicide in Europe.
That too. That pressure soaking plan was nonsense in this modern era of football..specially because our team was not apt for that sort of thing...unlike teams like atletico.

It was pure madness. Maybe it was ok for lowbie serie A scrubs.. but in europe you need to be able to shift pace and be able to go for it when it is needed. Sitting down with a sub par strategy is nuts.

I can say im already satisfied because we got the numbers and we take the money home to buffs us up for next season...but yes..now we are here..we need to at least try more. If by some miracle we advance to semis...and put up a show against a top tier rival...then damn... we cant ask for more...

and if by some miracle we.....

not i dont even wanna go there.
I think we need more if this victory is going to mean anything for us in the long term. By more I dont mean necessarily victory, I mean we go down fighting against a top opponent in a close match as opposed to getting humiliated or completely outplayed. If we do get outplayed like Bayern did to us in 2012 then our confidence might be shattered again and we might go back to gifting goals and being wasteful.

Allegri never got enough respect at Milan. Milan never respect their managers. I have been so impressed by Allegri here even though I was upset when he was first hired he has proven me wrong for sure.
This is a good point. Allegri is a different manager since his time at Milan. The resources at his disposal at Juve are more abundant than at any other time in his career but he seems more confident and self-assured. Agnelli and Marotta have had nothing but encouraging words for Allegri. Still early days I think, but maybe he's fulfilling his real potential in this environment.
