I disagree that Allegri was our best option, but I do think he's better than Conte. Antonio lost the plot and seems to have gone crazy, it's incredible how little I like him now that he doesn't coach Juve anymore.
Who would have been better? Were there any top coaches available back then, 2 days into preseason? Allegri imho was the best candidate out there, proven coach, won a title with Milan, later on managed to get them to qualify for the CL despite having at his disposal utterly mediocre squad and often lacking support from B&G. If you wanted someone who'd continue winning with Juve Allegri was the safest bet.

Out of those I'd pick Allegri every single time. It is not like we could choose between Ancelotti, Mourinho and Allegri, but rather mediocre crap that was available and a decent solid coach that any reasonable mgmt would prefer.

Someone not Italian, preferably.

But why? Most non-Italian coaches are shit too, it makes as little sense to hire someone simply because he isn't Italian than it makes to do the opposite.

Actually, even less.
That's some insane hatred for Italian coaches around here by a few. Like they're something ominous.

I mean I can sort of comprehend it as an overreaction to the notion that Italian coaches are some of tactical geniuses that was perhaps rather far spread a few years ago (when there were still a few legendary Italian coaches around). The problem is that I've never actually seen anyone in this forum say post anything like this, and I don't think anyone except for the given 2 or 3 nutheads actually believe it either.
