Allegri probably wants to make a slower transition to a new formation. the key players are still the same from last year and they have been playing only the 3-5-2 and nothing else for around 3 years now and its hard for a new coach to force something new right away AND keep the results going. Allegri picked a safer way, keep the formation that brought all the success in the past 3 years and he is probably gonna start using a new system more and more as time passes. we'll see how thing will go. if we pass the group then i guess we will be more unpredictable in the KO stages as we will (hopefully) play a new system

yeah, really really slow then. I mean, he has like 3 defenders injured yet he's still using a back 3. You'd think with Barz and Cacares out and Llorente offering nothing it would be a good time to start that transition to a back 4-3-3.

lets wait a few more games. at the beginning he didnt use it at all and now he switches formations almost every game (atleast in those in which we chase a result). i guess the next step is to start some games with a 4-3-2-1 and then (when Barza is fit) start using it constantly. the next ~10 games will tell us how much Allegri plans using a new formation..

He does switch to a 4-3-3 during the game though when we inevitably concede, I just don't understand why he doesn't start with it.
That's a mistake. If he thinks it's good enough when we're down it's good enough from the beginning because maybe for once we could take a lead in CL instead of going down every time w play an away game.

Dude we have no more time left. We're halfway through the group stages and we're at the edge of being knocked out. The time is up.

i think he will play a 4-3-2-1 against Olympiacos and some other serie a games before Barzagli is back. i also doubt he will abandon the 3-5-2 constantly. he will play both formations until the return of Barza (IF he has the intention to make a permanent switch). when Barzagli is back, plays a few games, regains his form, and we still dont make a change in formation, i'd say were stuck with the 3-5-2 atleast for this season...

You are very dreamy.

I mean. i would love him to do that... but he stopped tinkering formations very early in the preseason and then got Contefied. He has never changed then,

I want to see concrete evidence , because so far all points to a 352 till our eyes bleed.

i see the recent mid game formation changings as a good sign. thats the reason i think he will try to make a permanent switch soon. as i said, the return and regain of form by Barzagli is the last opportunity. if by then we still play 3-5-2 then we're done with a new formation for this season...
