Great line up. Great subs. Whatever he said between the last CL game and this game worked.

New formation was absolutely massive in our performance. Wasn't sure about the Padoin sub. I think it was preemptive because Asamoah might have been already complaining about pain so when Asa came off it made sense.

Morata had a strong 15 mins in the beginning then fizzled off after that so Llorente was a good sub (plus he actually seemed motivated.).

Really hoping we keep the formation and see if Llorente can get back to himself. Hope he does because that would be perfect timing for him to hit form again.

Vidal...that should be Allegri's focus right now is getting him back to his last season form. Our defense is worrisome but when we get Barzagli, Evra, Caceres and Ogbonna back we will start seeing improvements I think (rotation.)

Loved the team's start right from the whistle...pure hustle from start to finish.

oh, and pirlo getting back to top level.

from where I stood, under Conte you guys were absolutely amazing on set pieces :D
Are you kidding me? :D

I mean we were pretty good offensively, even though the short corners are somewhat notorious, but in his last season it felt like every other goal we concede was after a setpiece, especially in europe.

The most memorable:
Twice against Kopenhagen, in two different games
Twice in the same game against Verona who came back from a 2:0
Against Benfica in the EL semifinals

I'm sure you'd find plenty of others, I vaguely remember one against Chievo and I think it was Sampdoria as well.

It's particularly worrysome when you take into considoration the relatively low number of defensive setpieces we concede.

Edit: :sergio: it's late already, I better go to bed

I am proud of him today. Takes balls to change the formation in such an important match.

We need to work on things though. Firstly, our finishing, which is terrible. Secondly, fitting Vidal better in this AMC spot, which I think can be very good when he gets used to it. Thirdly, fixing our defense, which will take some time to learn to work again using 4 people. I am optimistic though.

If we convert back to 3-5-2 and this was an one-off thing, I will be really disappointed from Allegri. Hopefully, he saw future with 4-3-1-2, as most of us did today.

Credit for the formation, personnel and subs

I don't understand how the team can come out with so much energy, get the opener and then concede 2 unanswered goals at home. He needs to light a fire under the players asses to keep the aggression and pace up.

-We need Barzagli back, that will help.
-I think a fit Evra will help out a lot too. Barzagli is the only graceful defender we have.

Alen said it in the livethread: He mentioned he has never seen a team get punished so often from mistakes. We create 10 chances, they create 1 and score. It's been crazy and eventually somethings gotta give.

But yes, we need to start seeing that instant aggression from the first whistle.
