We should have aimed to win in San Siro from the start as an objective, it wouldn't have mattered if we left with a draw or a one goal difference loss at worst. We entered the field as if it was a friendly and we rested at least one player too many.

I understand. He wanted to give minutes to those who didn`t play regularly and the younger lads. He was very courageous tonight with the first 11 and the rain didn`t help either. We are playing very often lately so some players needed a rest, others needed some minutes and we had a pretty good result from the first leg, so everything was pointing out that he would not field the best 11.

I don`t blame him. Our last defeat was against Sevilla (if my memory is good), so we haven`t lost for ~20 games, so it was obvious that at some point we were going to suffer and get knocked down. The good thing is that this game is probably the best where we can suffer that anticipated defeat.
The other guys on the bench needed this to go on fight in Serie A and CL.

We are through to the final and that is the most important thing.
He surprisingly didn't play Padoin :D

Allegri: La colpa è mia, questa gara la dovevo preparare meglio

It was my fault, the game wasn't prepared well.
- - - Updated - - -

Max Allegri concedes Juventus were lulled into a false sense of security by the 3-0 first leg result against Inter.
The Bianconeri won 3-0 in Turin, but were beaten at San Siro by the same scoreline and eventually squeezed through to the Coppa Italia Final on penalties.
“It wasn’t easy to reach the Final, as we had such a packed fixture list. First of all I must compliment the lads for what they are doing,” the Coach told Rai Sport.
“Of course tonight for 70 minutes we didn’t play at all. Inter ran hard and put pressure on us, from that point on we started to move well and created some chances to avoid extra time. After that the lads did well to win on penalties and achieve our objective.
“The first goal was probably a bit of a foul, but having said that we should’ve dealt with it better and not handed the chance to Inter.
“The second goal was a mistaken challenge, the third a penalty on a 50 metre pass. We have to do better.
“I did expect Inter to cause us problems and I said many times in the Press conference that we weren’t qualified. It would’ve been better to start at 0-0, because having a 3-0 lead took something away from us in terms of concentration.
“It’s happened to me before, my Milan won the first leg 3-0 with Arsenal, then we were 4-0 down in London. It’s a dangerous situation.
“This is another part of the growth process, as when you have young players and go into games that seem easy and aren’t, you learn to do better. Inter deserve credit and we deserve criticism.
“Inter were very intense and we didn’t keep the right distances. I don’t think we managed two consecutive passes in the first half and so we were struggling in possession as well as off. Clearly I didn’t prepare them properly for the game.
“Daniele Rugani has great quality and will one day be a first choice player for Juventus. He needs to gain experience, above all when playing three at the back, as he’s not accustomed to it. He needs to relax, as he has improved a great deal since he arrived.
“Part of the learning process is putting in some performances that aren’t great.”
Allegri was asked if he was going to tweet his usual 'Fiuuu’ – Italian for 'phew.’
“Do I say 'Phew’ after this? A huge phew! A log phewm!”

He had to rotate the squad heavily tonight. I cant blame him for the result as the players needed to wake up. Even if we lost he still done the right thing by resting the team as the players have had a very busy couple of weeks and they needed a rest.

Allegri has a tendency to get a little lackadaisical. Takes a while for him to see the game on the field, from the way he originally planned it. If at all. Bayern and Inter games have proven that he relies on instinct and at times perhaps needs to impose himself or his ideas on the players and team a bit more, from a mental and tactical perspective.
I'm okay with that tho. He's proven it works long term

Easily our worst performance since the Conte era. We should react strongly in the next game because this was a terrible sign of complacency.

This 4-4-2 crap belongs in the garbage. 3-5-2 is the way to go until the end of the season. Next season we can go back to the 4-3-1-2 when we get a proper CM and our young players become more experienced

Neto, Rugani, Sturaro, Asamoah, Hernanes and Zaza sarting the game. There you have 6 bench players placed in an awkward formation. Then you have ref who gave them a lifeline on the first goal and has been dreadful, prolly the worst officiating I've seen in a while. Wouldn't read too much into last night's performance.

:agree: terrible outdated formation, even more than the 3-5-2. Our midfield always gets overrun with it (esp when playing turtles like Hernanes), Allegri does need to drop it for good.

If Pereyra was there to be something more than a ghost, he'd play for sure. We REALLY lacked that link between midfield and attack. We looked flat (thanks to 442) and we dropped back too deep. The midfield was truly garbage.

352 won't work without the midfield which we saw yesterday. It's funny how Lemina and Pogba changed the way we played. We really need upgrades in the middle, the bench is not short in numbers but in quality.

We made the final. I ain't even mad. Freak results and performances like this happen once or twice a season. The key is to forget about it and move on.
It's also worth remembering that this tournament is the least important objective for the players, and they have given a lot recently. Napoli, Bologna, Bayern, Inter, Inter. This was the least important game, and going into it with a big lead did us no psychological favours.

These players in whatever formation should not get thrashed 3-0 by this toothless Inter. The formation is one factor as is the fact that these players were never fielded all at once before, however the mental approach to the game was terrible and is to me the main factor. We played the game as if the tie was already over and barely even bothered to go through the motions. We didn't even threaten their goal. Allegri himself acknowledged the complacency.

This is a good lesson and a good experience to have especially that we still made it through to the final. Our inexperienced players need to learn that no matter the score in the first tie you need to show up and try to win the game. No one said give 100% and leave the field spitting blood, but we shouldnt be this relaxed either. If we had showed up with 70% of our mental capacity looking for a narrow 1-0 win we would have made it to the next stage and Inter would have continued being low on confidence. We might have given them a free confidence booster today. Juve should never be thrashed 3-0 by anyone inferior let alone our worst rival even if its a B team. There is nothing to be proud of in this performance. It has complacency and lack of urgency all over it be it by allegri or by the squad or both.

Sky2 commentators were disgusted by the ref and hoped that he'll at least get a suspension for few games. We were dreadful and Inter played their best game (kudos for the courage) but the referee was a complete joke.

Damn, we played our second squad. it doesn't matter what formation you use if you field midfield in Hernanes-Asamoah (who played like 30 minutes this season) - Sturaro (who can't pass and hold the ball in good conditions, not talking about the rain) and Cuadrado (who is useless in this weather conditions). On top of that all the team didn't give a shit about the result. Let just be happy that we are in the finals, got really check, merda season looks totally doomed now and we saw Asa, Lemina (need to stay, esp. for 10 mln.) in a game again. No need run to any long-term conclusions after one coppa game.

We are not short in number they all just get injured and there is a massive drop in quality when you look for replacements for Pogba or Marchisio. The latter is even more important than the former because he ties the entire team together hence our need for another midfielder that can take marchisio's place when he is rested or play next to him when khedira is dead

Bogan please. 4-4-2 is the formation of Gods. Allegri needs to learn from Ranieri on how to use it properly if he ever wants to manage in the best league in the world

I love 4-4-2. IMO with good players this is the ultimate formation. But 4-4-2 with Hernanes and Sturaro in mid and Asamoah as LMW makes me want to kill it with fire. :agree:

Very good post. Objective.

A bit too short, but still didn't read it. Keep it up
