Who says take off another midfielder?

But when you can't keep the ball up front why put a winger up there?

When your midfield is shattered why not swap one? Lemina won more balls in the 5 mins he was on than Sturaro did in the entire second half.

We were playing well in the second half until the sending off. Plenty of teams manage to still play football when they are down to 10 men. Sitting on the egde of our box making aimless clearances is incredibly risky and if it wasn't for Buffon we would have lost.

We desperately needed to try and keep the ball but with nobody up front to hold it and a tired midfield it was never going to happen.
We weren't planning to commit any players to any attack. The few times we started somewhat of a counter (Pogba virtually every time), no one moved up the field to him and Cuadrado. The plan was mainly for a hail-mary kind of attack to a fast player.

Exactly

That is an awful plan, we were extremely lucky that Buffon saved us.

You can't sit back on the edge of your box for 40 minutes and kick the ball aimlessly hoping not to concede. We badly needed someone to keep the ball.

To be honest I've actually got to agree with you. Blame Allegri for starting Hernanes (and Marotta for buying him to be fair), for not figuring out a fucking attacking gameplan 15 games into the season, but after the red card his decisions have been solid and probably saved us the point.
Let's be honest, most of our players thrive on those backs-to-the-wall games, it's like a glorified training exercise :D

Although there were a couple of times where even the likes of Pogba just hoofed the ball away when a pass was on to relieve pressure, so we overdid it a little. That's most likely from fear, considering our season so far. Really I think a loss here risking players forward would be potentially terrible, but the other thing is that our attack is not even a strong area of the team right now, Dybala had a mediocre game, Morata marginally better, so it made sense to take Dybala off. I would have preferred to see Zaza, but again you can make an argument for Cuadrado because of his fantastic pace and superior ball control.

Totally agree. We should just keep playing. Until he made the Dybala - Cuadrado substitution we where still dominating even though we where down to 10 men.

Yeah blame Allegri for Chiellini making a clown of himself (again) in a CL game and Hernanes for stupidly getting a red-card at the beginning of the second half.

Completely ignore the fact that we were getting well on top of them in the last 10-15 mins of the first half and the start of the second half. If we had 11 men we would have won this game IMO.

Let's be honest, they were all over us even 11vs11, and it took some amazing saves from Buffon for us to take a point.

Also it was his choice to play Hernanes.

Of course it was his choice to play him, and he was pretty shit too. But imagine taking him out and playing 4-3-3 with Cuadrado, I think we would have faired better in the second half. Allegri got a few things wrong in this game, but the approach after we went down to 10 men was not one of them.

Another horrible performance but this time his lucky ass saved by Buffon and Pellegrini :sergio: really I can't see any improvments in our team compared with pre season matches .

I blame everything on Allegri, it's easiest this way.

Those tactics in the final 15 minutes is why Italians are so famous for their discipline, tactical awareness and top notch defending.

Too bad we actually looked like we were going to concede much more than we did with 11 men not parking the bus.

11 vs 11 they had two shots didn't they, the goal and long range off the bar? After that all but one of their real chances, the golden chance for Stindl, were shots from distance. They were actually one of the better teams I've seen for shooting from distance, quite a few different players who looked useful at it.

Our passing was abysmal for 35 minutes, but we were actually quite good for a whole 20 minutes after that until Hernanes.

Well Hernanes happened and I know he didn't make him get a red card, but he was useless for 60? minutes, and that's why I blame Max, he shouldn't have played him at all.

He wanted to play his favorite formation with the trequartista our Sporting Director brought him.

We've barely improved, we still either come out to play games with no urgency or we start well then fade. We cant string 90 minutes together let alone 2 games.

We also rely on individual acts too much

You think he did it as a statement ?

That he didnt get what he needed, and is now forced to butch around, so just fielded the TQ he got and globally unmasked him as a failure with pathetic mentality ?
