The lad has definitely got wicked pace and suffers from, as much as is blessed with, that delightful uruguayan habit of going ALL IN for most challenges. From the brief footage I have seen, and what I have read about him from before he went to Barca, he seems a wicked signing, who will likely take a spot in our first XI as soon as he gets the chance to show what he can do. Cannavaro and Molinaro are the most likely casualties...and why not eh??? I am hoping that Zebina can continue his bright start to pre season and prove his critics wrong through delivering a sterling campaign at right back...then we only have to worry about the opposite flank and the centre.

I hope the rumours, and the people on here who seem to always know the validity of the rumours, namely...MARK...are correct. As like others are saying, with his signing...we are covered and have the requirements to fight side by side with inter for the scudetto, and against the cream of the european crop, in the champions league...Still...Much will depend on how quickly Diego and Melo find their feet. But Melo should be fine as he is already adjusted to the italian game...and Diego...is just pure class. So he will be fine. I am excited...

Fee to pay later next season when he's loan ends.....
Oh okay. As for your grammar mistake, I was serious when I gave you the rules the other day. It seems you didn't even bother reading them.

"Fee to pay later next season when HIS loan ends.

That was what i heard about the deal. That's why I wondered about the fee to be paid.
Usually, teams also pay for the loan. Not always, but most of the time they do.

Like last year with Knezevic. We paid around 700 000 eur to Livorno for the one year loan and we also had an option to buy him at the end of the season for a previously set price.
Or with Criscito and Genoa. Genoa paid us 1m eur for giving them Criscito on one year loan and they were also given an option to buy 50% of him at the end of the season.

I believe the fee Mark's talking about is the loan fee. Like those 700k for Knezevic or 1m Genoa paid to us. It looks like Juve and Barca still didn't agree on that fee, but it's not gonna be some high fee so the two teams should easily finish the negotiations and agree on the loan fee.

he does look a terrific defender and alongside Chiellini we will have 2 blood-and-guts style defenders who hopefully will learn something about positional awareness from canna and turn into a CB pairing we can build a foundation from

so he'll just be our new montero ;)

They could be talking about both fees. One for the loan(if there's one) and the one to pay if we want to keep him. If I was a selling selling I'd try to geta couple of mil now. Anyway, I'm confident about this deal and we certainly have good depth in the squad. I really hope that De Ceglie comes out of his shell and has a great year and that Zebina stays healthy all season.

If we sign this guy, and Zebina and Chiellini are in even near to their best form, we will have a fairly decent full back line. I think if Canna plays as terribly as it looks he will he'll have to be replaced as a starter by Legro who, although unreliable, can also play well.
That back 4 is at least a lot better then last years. Its not the huge improvement I was hoping for over the mercato but satisfactory considering our midfield signings.

if we sign caceres, if zebina stays healthy and if dc proves his talent, then this will be a huge upgrade...

Huge in my books would have been signing a better option then Canna, another RB and LB. Even though a healthy and in form Zebina is a big upgrade we still lack depth in RB position big time. And that central defensive spot is going to be a weakness for us all year.
Before we started signing midfielders I was thinking/hoping we would have covered all those bases. We only may just be covering one of them.
It was always a big ask to sign players in all three of those positions but to just by the end of the mercato make this one signing isn't really the upgrade I had hoped for. Even still, I'm satisfied with the improvements we're making.
