Giuseppe Marotta voiced his delight at the Bianconeri’s continued strong start to the year. The first half of the season culminated with Juve finishing as league leaders whilst boasting an unbeaten record stretching back to May 2011. And as we edge towards the end of January, little has changed. But the club director believes that there is still a long way to go.
Speaking on ‘Stadio Sprint’, Marotta said: “We’re still at an interlocutory stage with 18 games to play. It’s currently too early to say who’s in the running and who isn’t. But we mustn’t hide the numbers from our point of view. We’ve played 20 championship games and two Coppa Italia fixtures, we’re unbeaten and we’ve got the best defensive record in the league. There are rivals but there’s the desire from all concerned to fight for an important result. We’ll do that right until the end to try and give everyone something to cheer about.”
Whilst credit for the team’s fine streak of form is shared equally amongst the team, Marotta reserved a special mention for the impact of Antonio Conte: “The club renewed itself structurally, starting from the president and ending with the technical area, because a footballing cycle was about to come to an end and a manager who had a technical profile suited to the club’s history was required. Today there are only five players who have been here for longer than two years. All credit to Antonio Conte, who is the main driving force behind the results we’ve achieved so far.”
