I loved PES, but they lost the plot a lot earlier than that imo.
I don’t know tbh PES2018, PES2019 on PS was great for me. But I hate what happened and they also pushed me towards fifa in 2021.

I played earlier FIFA versions like 2008 because of the separate game FIFA MANAGER even thou I’m FM Maniac

PES 2017 and 2018 still had great gameplay, they were much better actual football sims than FIFA. The few games before that not so much, and this is where the full crossover to FIFA for a lot of people really began. FIFA always sold much better but that's the licensing and marketing difference above all. It's been nothing more than average since 2015, but it's essentially a closed market now like the NBA 2K series or EA NHL.

Series has been dead since efootball, but Konami did brilliantly to put out such a game for so many years, given what they had to contend with. ISS and PES in those early days felt like a jump of about 5 levels of enjoyment and realism to me in comparison to what FIFA were putting out, and they forced them to provide a better game than what EA otherwise would have churned out.

I'd like to see another competitor or Konami revolution one day. Football is the world sport and there should be more than one game. But then some sports don't even get one semi-playable game.

I know clubs like Barcelona and Bayern had exclusive deals with Konami, but they still were in FIFA with their name and real kits. They just didn't have the stadium, manager, and maybe some authentic chants in the game, if I'm correct. But everything else was there.

How the hell can Serie A not pull off a similar deal? If you're a big brand like Juventus, AC Milan, or Inter, there is no reason you shouldn't be in both games.

Until PES2019 it was a lot better. It’s really sad what happened….
It was WAY before 19. Gameplay wise, FIFA was lowkey better going as far back as FIFA 10 or 11 when UT really was at its best, least monetized state. But PES still had the following and playerbase up until like FIFA 12 when UT just became such a massive part of FIFA that PES couldn't compete and gameplay suffered in PES as they tried to make it more like FIFA but in a very janky way.

As soon as FIFA got the moneybag of UT figured out, the gameplay suffered and was a problem but they were never chasing the gameplay of PES like PES tried with FIFA that hurt it so bad imo.

EA (wisely) pivoted to a recurring revenue model. It never really tried to perfect gameplay or physics.
That revenue model + popular streamers has to make these companies so much money.

I don't know who the popular gaming streamers are, but I remember KSI back in the day from his videos that went viral. If he was doing that today, I cant imagine how much EA would pay that guy to play and promote ultimate team - which I'm sure if what the top streamers today are getting.

It’s the fastest growing entertainment option with with an incredibly broad swath of emerging markets still to be saturated. There are schools here that have e-sports teams which is a good indication of the growing gaming industry, which has been on an upward train since the 80s. It’s fascinating in my opinion.

Would be good news for Juventus from a marketing standpoint if true
Sure hope it’s true because i’ve had enough of the Piemonte Calcio memes, we already aren’t as recognizable anymore and largely going through a popularity downfall internationally, this game is one of the few select elements keeping us relevant and visible to a larger global audience, despite those pricks at EA rarely ever being fair in their ratings for some of our key players it’s still a major marketing tool to make use of.

Looks to be confirmed by multiple accounts which keep track with this kind of info and leaks from EA.

This are supposedly some of the most reliable ‘sources’ confirming it… here they are responding to a claim saying that even if a star player is named as ambassador does not always guarantee that the team is also in partnership, but they’ve reiterated that Juventus themselves will sure be in FC26.

Hopefully it’s true and we won’t have to deal with even more controversy out of this.
