I said it when we signed him and I'll say it again, one of the best #9's in the world. He just needed time to settle and gain confidence. The thing about him is that he is a player who takes a long time to get firing (remember him starting slowly in Madrid too) but once he gets going his bottom level is impressive, every game. Historically he doesn't break, freaking occurence during the start of his Juve career, and he can run for 180 minutes - so just keep playing him and watch him dominate.

When fit and in the mood he turns in a nightmare for defenders and even opposite atackers , the guy tracks back as a box to box and the intriguing part is he actually is as effective as one.

I really believe he might be our biggest asset in knocking out Bayern!

:agree:

You and me. I had so many arguments about whether this guy was a top CF or not... People were so ridiculous about this signing. 20 mil for him was a bargain. He doesn't get injured. He dominates defensive lines with his physicality. He's a good finisher both aerially and with his feet. And he's consistent game in, game out.

What his offer is obvious, only thing I doubted was wether he fits us tactically, as in if we can create or serve him as well as wing based teams could. Not sure how things will go for him when we change from 3-5-2 to 4-3-1-2.

He'll still have Alex Sandro in the 4-3-1-2... :D

Plus, Mandzu has good feet. He'll do well regardless.

True, but it wouldnt be as much as focus on wide attacking. Is there a single goal he scored where he was served centrally? Seems like either high or low crosses.

His first goal today was a rebound off a shot by Khedira and then Dybala. Seemed central. The follow-up rebound on Dybala's shot against Fiorentina. Also assisted Dybala's volley the other game, and scored off a low pass from Dybala...

There is no denying that Mario is much better off in a system where he is fed from wide positions. But that shouldnt be an issue with Allegris 4-3-1-2 as either the two b2b midfielders or fullbacks keep the width.

The SS in a 4-3-1-2 often drifts out wide as well. Even in our 3-5-2, two of Dybala's assists for Mandzu have come on a low cross from the side, and on a high cross from wide.
