He is being sentimental and wrong. You can't compensate your lack of skill with determination at this level. When a player got kicked out by not one but two big clubs, you should take the fucking cue, otherwise you will end up with a pseudo striker who has technique of a bookshelf. Btw, we don't miss a player like him. We already bought another furniture, Milikea, a true false 9.

Would be nice if all pseudo strikers with the technique of a bookshelf could score an overhead kick against Real Madrid in the UCL final.

"Kicked out of two big clubs". Croniosesque.
That part is true though. Swallowed in and shat out by not once but twice and marotta the admirer of turds jumped on it like he did with matuidi, douglas costa, anelka, toni, vucinic, lucio, evra.

Idk man, perhaps that Del Piero guy, or whatever his name was, just doesn't know all that much about football.
It is not that, but popular faces often talk out of their asses just to be nice and he is the mister nice guy.

Anyway, isn't it boring to bring up the same shit over and over again? Your and mine valuation of this club are vastly different, therefore there is no point to argue further.

To some degree I'd agree with turk there, Juventus or JJ or whatever you want to call it these days, has always kinda stood on the wrong side of the mainstream flow on how football is being played.

When other clubs are symbolized by the 2 "aliens", Salah, Robben, their type of players, here in JJ, we present this guy, Vidal, Chiellini type players as our symbols of excellence (you can throw Buffon in there as well).

It's not wrong, nor is there anything wrong with their ability or their careers... It's just that ultimately, like it or not, they're 2nd rate at best.

It's the Peles and the maradonas of this world that truly represent the pinnacles, and that happened not without reasons.

Even the pirlos of this world, aren't considered on that level.

So for JJ, to find our players that were on that level, we had to go back almost 30 years by now, with the late 90s version of ADP and ZZ...

When JJ as an institution as a whole, including the fans, places mandzu kind of players on pedestals, then is it any wonder that we enabled this 2nd coming of Allegri over there?

JJ normalized hanging on the ropes throughout matches with less than 40% ball possession and called it the grinta mantra, over glorifying players that were better at playing in that conditions while lacking at playing with the ball compared to what other clubs with the same ambitions usually have.

It's not wrong to call this kind of player as legends, but JJ need actual higher level footballing legends type of players, and coaches that can work with and develop that kind of players.

Buffon a second rate player.

Late run for shittest post of the year. Any more takers?
a GK or a defender compared to the top #10 and/or #9? ordinary people who don't know football would far more likely to have heard about pele, messi, zidane etc than yashin, nesta, roy keane. that's by definition made the later group of player 2nd rate.

You say it like we've not had any great attackers over the years.

Just look at Yildiz thread, this has happened long before Allegri.

JJ has always been distrustful of young technical offensive players compared to other top clubs with the same ambitions.

Also not just about playing those kinds of players, JJ has always been very hesitant to acquire those kinds of players in the first place. Preferring older and often less technical players from other serie a clubs.

Look at chiesa, JJ should've acquired him when he was below 20 years old.

When we signed Mario I think we all knew we were getting a strong, physical striker with a fantastic engine but I don't think any of us knew just how complete a player he was.

Goals, passes, flicks, headers, tackles, stamina, attitude, technique, tactical awareness and flexibility, ability to wind up opposition (who else threatened to choke Lewandowski or smacked Messi during CL games?), even his connection with the fans was great. And he always delivered in big games.

A unique mixture which perfectly encapsulated what this club does or at least used to stand for. Probably my favourite player of all time. I wish we had signed him long before we did, but very happy with the memories we shared together.
