Pirlo was NOT as good as Verratti at 19. Pirlo only the last 5-6 years has become the top draw player he is now.

Im not sure I have ever, seen anyone anywere rate Pirlo in the the top list of Midfielders apart from the last few years.

yap totally agree. if he has a good season with pescara his other half will rise and they will end up getting 8 mil for it. so in the end they also got their 12 mil plus 2 loans and a good season of verratti. if he sucks they could still sell his other half for around 4-5 mil as verratti is pretty young. but 12 mil today is maybe too good to refuse for them.

I agree. Pescara would make more money in the end too. 4M and 2 youth players + if it ever ends up going to the envelopes. PLUS Verratti can stick around with Pescara next season which helps Pescara (they keep one of their best players) and allows Verratti to grow.

I honestly feel indifferent about how his career develops if he won't join us. What I damn know for sure is that my club offered more than enough to try and get him.

Not sure about that, Pirlo was the dominant player, leader and captain in the successful Azzurrini side of that era, playing as a trequartista.

I remember watching him for the U/21s back then, you could tell he would end up being a special player.
