Verratti's agent is basically like "hand me the suitcase and let's GTFO before they change their minds!".
We might or might not have lost out here, his growth could be really good, or completely stall. When you negotiate you have to have a price and stick as close to it as possible. We aren't playing with Monopoly money like other clubs, it's business, and if clubs want to sell to the highest bidder that's their choice. Also, I think Pescara might find their relationship with Juve and Napoli has soured over the way they have auctioned him in the media. Because that's all they've done, and now they've got the highest bid. Job done.
I would have liked him here as I see potential, but he wouldn't have played for at least 2 seasons, possibly 3, on a regular basis anyway.
Secondly, I don't see longevity in his career in Paris. He's a homely boy who I think would be moving to a big foreign city, whether he stays at Pescara for one year or not.
It's a risky move for him, just as a move to Juve would have been, but the extra unknown factor in Paris means the extra money has to be good.
