If somebody is getting paid to play football, then he should be ready physically and mentally to do so on a weekly basis. Otherwise, he could save us the trouble and go set behind a desk playing solitaire 8 hours a day
He was brought to play primavera football, he shouldn't be blamed for not being mentally ready for first-team matches.

I am not looking to argue with you :p
The kid gets tired mentally by playing long matches and IIRC he was left out of the squad couple of times because he wasn't ready mentally. I wouldn't say he has been a great RB for us. I would say he is doing great as a young player who wasn't supposed to play for us.
Even the crowd in Italy can fuck you up mentally, remember his first away games?
I'm sorry I just don't understand that and can't agree. :D

Nah, he should be alright. The kid is stable, and he gets back smoothly when he a commits a mistake during a game, which isn't the same for Motta. The only one that is mentally non stable is Motta. Once he makes an error, plenty of mistakes follow. The guy is fragile

So he isn't mentally ready to start but is mentally ready to come into a game where it's on the line to win? That makes no sense.

It's much harder for a player, especially an 18 year old to come into a game where the club is trying to savage a season and be the youngest player on the field and try to make an impression. He did well when he came on, so he seems pretty fucking mentally stable to me Melo. Not sure where you gather these conclusions.

Exactly. When he makes a mistake you NEVER SEE him crumble mentally. He works through it flawlessly.

Huge difference on starting a game and coming in just to defend. It would be harder for him to play the whole match, a mistake would kill him mentally. Imagine the pressure of not playing a single first team football match for his motherclub and suddenly starting for one of the biggest clubs in Italy with 30 000 fans watching. He simply can not play every week.

How do you know if he works through it flawlessly? He was not in the squad for several games and suddenly popped up in the Inter match. What does that tell you? He was being prepared mentally.

I know because when he does make a mistake you can still see his confidence is strong. Again, that means he is strong mentally. He doesn't show any more lapses in concentration than Chiellini or Bonucci. He is a very smart defender and he knows it. He is a step ahead of the other player in 1v1's and again that helps his confidence. You can see the team support him when he does something well AND makes a mistake...you don't see that with motta do you? This kid is set up for success by everyone but his coach.

The kid is cool when collecting the ball at the back under pressure and he doesn't make rash decisions. He displays all the traits of being mentally strong and all you seem to have against him in your evidence against this is his age.

Come on man, who are you kidding :D
Team would even support Hitler if he started playing as our RB.

I guess we have to agree to disagree here.

Sorensen is millions and I swear I mean it, millions ahead of Motta.

And the guy has barely played Serie A games. Says a lot.
:agree:

Millions ahead of him is still considered underrating Soreneson. The kid is tough, smart, adapt quickly to different positions, environments and situations. I think we have a gem here.
