Gentile praises Motta 'move’

Juventus legend Claudio Gentile has backed the Old Lady’s proposed swoop for Marco Motta.

“He is a boy who applies himself well,” said the former Under-21 boss who coached him at Azzurrini level.

He’ll be very useful to Juventus and is perfect for Gigi Del Neri’s 4-4-2 brand of football.”

The Bianconeri are expected to add the right-back to their first team squad once they agree terms with Udinese.

And Gentile believes that the former Roma player will be a valuable asset in defence and attack.

He started life as a wide midfielder who then exploded as a full-back,” added the 1982 World Cup winner.

He pushes forward a lot, but he moves well defensively too. He’s strong physically, good in the air and is full of running.

Del Neri will now how to do well by creating the space for him to run into so he can get to the line and cross the ball.”

Motta will replace Martin Caceres in the squad after Juventus didn’t take up their option to sign him outright after his loan from Barcelona last term.

Why it's great that Roma's sub well be our starter?
I dont know why he doesn't play often but from what I have seen he's really good. I said it was a great deal cause its a loan with an option to buy for 5m. Juve cant afford to buy 11 world class players in a single season, so this will do for now. Who do you want for rb then? Theres really no better option out there now.

He is decent. I think people may be over rating him a bit but he could develop into a great player here. I am much happier with him being our RB then Grygera or Zebina .. he offers alot more explosiveness and talent. He also has a good head on his shoulders as he was the captain of the Under 21 Italian national team. With Bonucci, Motta and Chiellini our defence will be a very young but talented.

I wonder what we will do for left back?
