Whether 3m of a little more...he is clearly better than Zebina, Sali and Grygera Goblin. Also he is italian, and I do like the idea of Chiellini/Bonucci/Motta playing together, as two of those fiends are already starting blocks of the foundation of the new Azzurri squad, and who knows, maybe Motta can break into it also, with some decent coaching.
Of the signings we seem to have almost made, or have made...Pepe seems the most deflating, but, he IS an improvement, on a half dead Camo, whose performances, when he does make it on the field are as consistent as the mood of a menopausal lioness. I am unsure about Martinez...he looks pretty handy, really, but more of an attacker especially suited to a 4-3-3-, than a winger...
We do not need to buy a handful of already proven world class players. Partly are chances of doing so are restricted by thge lack of champions league football, but..we do still have some prestige on the world stage. If we keep Buffon, CHiellini, Melo, Diego, MArchisio, even Momo (if he can be taught to play it simple and stick to what he does best, hassle, run, hack, maime) then we need only to add in some decent players, not proven world beaters, to make us vastly more useful than last season.
I remember the team of the 90s...when we had torricelli...di livio...jugovic...pessotto...ravanelli...padovano...marocchi...maybe i am mixing up eras...but our teams of the 90s were rarely 11 world stars. they were a mixture of world class and decent, hard working, reliable players.
