Marchionni begins Juve career
Friday 9 June, 2006

Marco Marchionni was today presented as a Juventus player and expressed his joy at this move into the big time.

“It is a source of great satisfaction for me to be a part of a club with such a glorious history. Right from the start, I was amazed by how organised Juve are,” said the Bosman signing.

Marchionni’s career really took off at Empoli in 1998-99 and he moved to Parma in 2001, an experience split by a brief spell at Piacenza, but a serious injury kept him out of action for almost a year.

He rediscovered his form at Parma this term, scoring four goals and providing countless assists, which earned him an Azzurri recall. The winger was one of Marcello Lippi’s reserves for the 2006 World Cup squad.

“I am very happy with the way this season has gone,” Marchionni told the Bianconeri website. “I managed to avoid relegation, was in the Italy side and am now a Juventus player.”

The midfielder, who will turn 26 next month, underwent a medical in Turin this afternoon and put pen to paper on a contract, thought to be a five-year deal.

Bravo Marchionni.
Thats Juve.
No one will be close to us.
No way of Serie B.
The will proof that Moggi "usually is pissing right instead of left",that they will prove.
Who wants to go,the door is widely open, but, for equal amount of money. We are wizards for free transfers,no one else.If someone wants our player, okay, but for serious amount.
Good and frutfull career in Juve ,Marchionni.

“I’m 100% sure I’ve made the right choice”

Following his summer transfer from Parma, wizard of the wing Marco Marchionni is convinced he made the right decision: “Why Juve? Because this is a club that belongs at the top. If I wasn’t convinced this was the right place for me, I wouldn’t be here”. The young midfielder has a positive outlook on the season ahead: “Even if we do end up in Serie B with a 30 point penalty, I still believe we can achieve promotion in one season, potentially one of the greatest chapters in this club’s history, and I will do my best to make sure Juve get back on top. We will concentrate hard on winning every game and see what happens. No one is assured of a place in the starting line-up, there are a lot of great players at this club, but I think the presence of a player like Alessandro Del Piero, the symbol of this club, will be a great example to everyone”. And as for the appeal? “I’ve spoken to Didier and some of the other players, and although it’s hard to imagine a club like Juventus in Serie B, we’re all hoping that the situation will improve with the second phase of proceedings” The 25 year-old, who celebrates his birthday in six days time, also revealed he chose Juventus despite offers from a number of other big clubs: “When you get out there on the pitch, you’re concerned with only one thing, the football. I had the option of joining Fiorentina but Juve is Juve: this is the club everyone dreams of playing for. I have no regrets”.
