Catania boss Rolando Maran has called on his troops to produce a “more than perfect” performance as they look to continue their unbeaten start to the season on home soil.
After taking 10 points from their first four fixtures at the Angelo Massimino, including a 0-0 draw against early front-runners Napoli, the Etnei will be aiming to stop the threat of Antonio Conte’s high-flying Juventus on Sunday afternoon.
Speaking to reporters in Sicily, Maran said: “We need to be more than perfect and play like we’ve never done before. I’m relying our fans to give us a big boost. Juventus have everything, not just areas of strength. I don’t see any weak points, they’re also unbeaten in Europe.”
The 49-year-old was then asked how he plans to reduce the impact of Bianconeri playmaker Andrea Pirlo.
“As with every game we need to focus on specific aspects relating to our opposition. Out of these, of course, there’s Pirlo’s influence, but it’s not just about him. Aside from their starting line-up, Juventus also have substitutes capable of coming on and changing the game. However, this doesn’t scare us, if anything it fires us up even more.”
