Maradona to make comeback

Tuesday 27 December, 2005

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Napoli legend Diego Maradona is set to make a playing comeback at the age of 45.

The World Cup winner has gotten back into fine shape in recent months and is set to discuss terms with Argentine Fourth Division side Excursionistas according to the BBC.

Maradona revealed in a recent TV interview that he was keen to start playing again. “I'd like to play in a club of Primera C or D, because there's not too much pressure,” said the midfielder who helped Napoli to two Scudetti and the UEFA Cup in the 1980s and early 1990s.

Now the President of Primera C side Excusionistas, Armando Mainoli, has offered Maradona the chance to return to playing. "When we watched the repetition of that interview some days ago, we had the idea immediately. We want to include Maradona in the official squad," he said. "We know there is some time yet left to do it and we'd be totally proud of seeing Diego wearing our shirt."

Maradona hasn’t played in a professional match since he appeared for Boca Juniors against River Plate in October 1997, although he has recently made several appearances for a Boca Juniors veteran team.

i think its very idiotic.....his acting like an idiot in the media....he should start a manager career in argentina.....

or he has nothing to do and he wants to be on a frontpage of all newspapers and magazines......

I cant see him taking it seriously if he starts to play in that club......and thats stupid.....he does it only to get notized......

His 45 for god sake....and he acts like a teenager......i guess there really was a reason why those policemen put a gun to his face.....this guy is so grazy.....

even if he was a good player...even then, that kind of behaivour is stupid....he has turned so low imo...and his 45.....

pathetic

I personaly think that Legends should stay legends. I have yet to see a past player come back and make an Impact (Not even Michael Jordan).....Its probably just a publicity stunt....but you never know it could be fun watching the legend take out teenagers left and right and still amaze them with his deadly freekicks...

Maradona's comeback will end once and for all when whatever Argentine league he plays in makes him piss in a cup

He's the best man to ever play this game and I would love to see a comeback by him.
