05/07/2004. Diego Maradona's personal doctor has played down fears over the Argentine icon's health.
The former Boca Juniors player was re-admitted to hospital this week, just a few days after being released.
Maradona, who was in the intensive care unit of a hospital with severe cardiac and pulmonary problems, enjoyed a barbecue and some golf after being released.
"He was eating too much and the exercise fatigued him," said his personal physician Alfredo Cahe
"We'll have Diego for a long while. That's for sure. He's still young, and he's fine."
A statement from his clinic read: "The patient continues in a stable condition, with a favourable evolution on the clinic situation that motivated his admission. The laboratory results and images analysis showed an improvement in his breathing and cardiac condition.
"In the next few hours, his family and personal physician will define how the treatment will continue."
