I think people are overly critical of Loca. He wasn’t even supposed to be a starter according to allegri but he’s forced his hand. If we played attacking football we’d see more of what we expected of him, but as of now he’s been a leader in the midfield when we’re defending.

He isn't just suited for regista position. Doesn't really have vision and creativity in him.
If we play him as pure DM, he is a decent player.
But still he should be making a couple of goals or assists at this point of the season

@Post Ironic What say you about this player's individual performances? Is it the coach playing him out of his preferred role? He's not sharp with his passes despite being an effective DLP at Sassuolo. His defensive coverage is admirable but we all know that's not what we bought him for.

Pls discuss ser

Aside from a misplaced couple passes in the first 10-15 minutes, he was actually quite good today. Won the ball back numerous times, 3 tackles - 4 interceptions. Most passes on the team by a non-defender (48) and mostly progressive forward passes, while still having 83% completion. Was he perfect? Nope. But it was a very good game from him imo, including in terms of passing after the rough 10-15. He also won the ball back cleanly that led to Rabiot’s goal That was called back due to an imaginary foul.

What is your assessment in aggregate of his time at the club?

Average. Some good spells, but no consistency, and some truly atrocious spells. His wages are fine, but if he doesn’t perform better, we paid too much for him. As things stand he’s bench player level for a top club, but going by what he showed in his two years prior to Juve I still hope he can get back on track.

Our team doesn't function without him. None of the other players can really fill in his role effectively to give the team structure.

With Locatelli, Fagioli and this version of Rabiot we have the strongest midfield since Pjanic and Khedira started to decline imo.

Brilliant performance tonight. The protection he is giving the defence at the moment is so important. His recovery tackle on Calhanoglu in the box in the second half was massive.
Yes, it was like that early in the season too tbh. Paredes was expected to play the regista role but whenever Locatelli was in instead we looked more solid, especially defensively. He should always play for what he provides
