not the best return, he clearly was locked in a defensive role, but at least he did that fine. 7/7 duels won, 3/3 accurate long balls, 4 fouls drawn. could have passed a lot more, still way too static for my taste. paredes' moves are a lot more effective, loca needs to learn that, he won't get the ball just standing there.

Well, he won't perform to his true potential if he's not being played in his preferred position. I get the feeling Lord Backpass really considers his starting midfield trio to be Fagiot, Pogba and Parepiss, which is disheartening and depressing.

He's playing well within himself, might just be the sort of player who mentally needs a lift, although this goes against Allegri's take that he is a future leader. At the moment I don't see leadership qualities from him.

The other thing, which is likely with our squad, is that he is playing with an underlying injury issue. Tbh this happens a lot more in professional football than people think. He was a lot more dynamic last season, even if he also had quiet spells.
