get an attacking midfielder for crying out loud.
we dont need an overwieght defensive midfielder:fero:
Costinha was more the defensive midfielder for both FC Porto, when Maniche was there, and on the Portugal NT.

Maniche is a good player, but IMO, I think he's slightly overrated for his capabilities. Offensively, he's great at the deep shot a la Nedved (which we can certainly use given Nedved's form of late). But he's of more limited effectiveness on the offensive pass or cross.

Still, I think he could make a great backup for us. Certainly better than Blasi, most likely better than Gianicheddar, and of greater offensive value than both combined.

you can not keep an unhappy player
Yes, but don't forget that Real Madrid bought Owen for 12 million, kept him on the bench for a year and then sold him for twice that amount. It's funny how the transfer market works...

yeah, but that was cause of newcastle´s desperation to get him and their need to calm an unhappy fanbase. To begin with, his sale to madrid was very tricky...12m and Nuñez, for Owen? please

Real made sure they would come out winners either way..even if they didn't sell him they could put him on the bench again while profiting from his merchandising power, and even now that they have sold him they aren't short of cover either.

Good business all round.

Recoba is such a waste of talent, if you think of it it's absolutely ridiculous that he has been no more then a bench player for the last five seasons.

And when he stpes up into the pitch , he can destroy the opposition team single-handly. With good partners around him, he is surely going to terrorise any team. This is shown in the 3-2 victory against Colombia, where Zalayeta scored a hat-trick. Juz look at how Inter played when Recoba is included. Too bad he is wasted as Mr. Gol said.

He's so talented it'd be a crime for any team to bench him.Pity that's been the case for so long now.

He was once the highest paid player (in terms of weekly salary) in the world IIRC.
