The jailer can calculate with his powers
1. He can jail someone early if he thinks that guy is a gangster, so that guy can't vote.
2. He can jail someone because he thinks that player is a civilian that will be saved from whacking.
The jailer should have just enough time as all the others to decide what to do. He's a civilian and of course he should help the civilians.

It is night and the citizens have gathered around here to avenge the death of the two civilians last night. They gathered around Michael_Cutajar and asked him to explain why he shouldn't be lynched. He was afraid and was lost for words. "Attack" said the leader of the civilians. Just as the first person was about to hit Michael, "Stop" screamed a voice. It was the voice of a respected gentlemen from town. "You will not touch Michael", he said. His word was enough for the gathered mob, because he is the Lawyer. They let Michael walk away free

I'd have changed my vote and told you about this but if i did it i was going to put myself in danger because it was between me and him.
