French champions Lyon have declared an interest in signing Juventus midfielder Mauro Camoranesi.

The shamed Italian giants have already lost four key members of their squad following relegation to Serie B next season.

Many more are tipped to follow the likes of Fabio Cannavaro and Gianluca Zambrotta in leaving, with Camoranesi the latest to attract interest.

Reports have claimed that Liverpool and Manchester United are keeping tabs on the wide man, who won the World Cup with Italy earlier this month.

But Lyon could nip in quickly to agree a deal after sporting director Bernard Lacombe admitted an interest in the Argentine-born Camoranesi.

"The priority remains the arrival of a player on the right side that would replace the expected departure of Sidney Govou and the already settled departure of Pierre-Alain Frau," Lacombe told But!.

"We are attracted by Camoranesi. We had a talk with chairman (Jean-Michel) Aulas.

"We don't want to take advantage of the difficult Juventus situation. Moreover, there are two Frenchman at the head of Juve, which is important."

Lyon supremo Aulas is also thought to be keen to entice David Trezeguet away from Juventus, with speculation suggesting Liverpool have refused the chance to sign the striker.

While Lacombe acknowledged his admiration for the former Monaco ace, he is thought to favour a bid for Fiorentina hot shot Luca Toni.

Lacombe added: "David Trezeguet? Of course we appreciate that player, but that is not the priority."
