Del Neri is not a good coach, nor were Zacherroni or Ferrara for that matter. Ranieri got the most of the squad he had at his disposal, but the players needed a change, and frankly, that was as far as Ranieri could take the squad.
We should've hired a motivator, a real winner as a coach after Ranieri left; all we did was procure one loser after another, which led to our current sad state.
Del Neri was never, and will never be a winner. He is as tactically inflexible as they come, and I am sure some of the players don't respect him or agree with his decisions. That is what happens when you put a provincial coach in a big team with so many egos. Juventus lack desire and hunger, and a large part of that is down to Del Neri's lack of motivational skills.

That's exactly it, man. He's way defensive minded. Every one of his subs points that way and obviously his number one piority is not to concede a goal rather than how to score a goal. When was the last time we took the game to our opponent? Palermo away? even then that happened after we went 2-0 down.. other than that game I can't recall a match of us where we had remarkably more possession than our opponents.
I just hate how he insists on playing this slow, tactical, defensive game when we don't have any tactical, smart, defensive players. Even our best defender, Chiellini, is not exactly known for his savvy.
You ask retards to sit back in this defensive zone/shell/thingy and we get picked to pieces. Why not try to play in the other team's half all game?
Look at Mazzari. He knows he has nothing but that lethal trident and some athletic players. So he presses the whole fucking game and opens it up into a break neck pace. Guess who becomes favoured then? His players.
Gargano, Pazienza, Maggio, Zuniga, Dossena. They all can't do shit in a slow, tactical system. You open it up and suddenly Maggio looks like national team material. Zuniga is good again. Gargano tackles everything that moves.

Krasic, Melo, Pepe, Martinez, Sissoko, Matri. These players are all athletic and quick. They can play the whole field. Chiellini is the perfect defender for an open game. Bonucci has the class to play quick balls.
I mean, the choice is simple. We had guys like Grygera and Grosso comprising half our defence. So we elect to defend all game. We had/have the attackers. But we chose to put our trust in our defenders who are half as good as our attackers.
We try to slow the game down and play methodical, defensive soccer. Guess what? You can't do that with shit like Grygera for 90 minutes. He WILL fuck up eventually. Even though Sorensen is an amazing 18 year old, he WILL fuck up eventually if you rely on him all game.

That's a good point. I think it's a mixture of both. It's obviously not only Del Neri's fault, or only the players' fault alone. I think it started last year when our 'project' failed miserably thanks to our manager's idea of building a team around Diego. We bought the necessary players for a 4-3-1-2 to work. It didn't, and we shipped Diego off.
That wasn't our only problem; we also had defensive worries with our fullbacks. That issue was not dealt with properly, here I blame the management and the coach for not making sure a good fullback was brought it. This season; we abandoned the 4-3-1-2 and went back to the classical 4-4-2. We bought players like Krasic and Martinez to play on the wings. One did fairly well, the other didn't.
The error here is placing too much hope on Martinez when we should have invested in a player who would be a little more dependable. As for Pepe, I think he was just bought as a decent backup, nothing more. Selling Trezeguet without getting a replacement was another major error.
Clearly, Del Neri isn't to blame for everything. There were many aspects that should have been dealt with the board and weren't. However, I still think this squad should do better. We aren't as good as Inter or Milan but we're definitely on the same level as Roma, and overall, we are better than Napoli, Palermo, and Lazio.

Too many ups and downs and there doesn't seem to be any level of consistency in this team. Add to that the fact that his idiotic substitutions and questionable decisions concerning the starting line-up.

That's very debatable, he had a better core of experienced winners who knew each other (Buffon, Zebina, Zanetti, Camoranesi, Del Piero [21 Serie A goal version], Nedved, Trezeguet. This shouldn't be underestimated. They were also highly motivated post-Calciopoli.
The current squad is stage one, much younger and in a transitional process. It doesn't excuse other failings, but is one reason why we lack consistency and the ability to scrape the shitty points we did under Ranieri.
