Hope that DN after praising Melo doesn't sell him as he did to Diego when sold him just few weeks after saying Diego is essential to the team.

Del Neri: ‘Juve are my national team Friday 10 September, 2010
Gigi Del Neri wants Juventus to play like a national team with everyone pulling together for the black and white cause.

The Old Lady have undergone extensive rebuilding work this summer, bringing in a new Coach, a new general manager and 10 new players.

Speaking to Tuttosport, Del Neri said: “I want a team in which everyone fights for Juventus and for their team-mates.

“If they are then late for a pizza it’s not a problem. We already have a valid group of players. From what I’ve seen in these first few months, Felipe Melo is a leader.

“Rules are the basis of any team sports. If someone plays golf or tennis rather, you can speak in the first person and concede some unbridled individualism.

“In football instead you use ‘we’. I am almost always the first to do it in interviews. And I put the concept of the group ahead of any other consideration.

“The first thing that I ask of my players is to always be available towards those who find themselves in difficulty.

I appreciate it a lot when NBA players run to help their team-mate who has ended up on the floor, helping him to get up.”

When asked about Alberto Aquilani’s comments comparing him with Fabio Capello, the England manager he actually grew up with, Del Neri said: “In those years we played in the academies of two rival teams and then we ended up at Spal. Capello and I had very good teachers.”

Finally Del Neri gave his impression of Juventus’ title rivals this season.

“Inter are the strongest team in Serie A. They must only recover from bingeing on victories.

“Milan have focused on great champions like Juve a year ago. Anyway whoever criticises our transfer strategy is mistaken.

“All the players who arrived are internationals, the others were already in the squad. That said, everyone likes to have aces.”

His choice to replace our 2 best players on the field, Pepe and Krasic when we need goals is questionable for me.. He want to change to 4-3-3.. But why he took both off them, it can be DP or Quag to be replaced and play Krasic and Pepe as attacking winger in the 4-3-3

I think Krasic was struggling before he came off. During one move he stopped running and had his hands on his knees. The guy ran himself into the ground.

Obviously if he was ok then yeah totally agree it is stupid to take off our best player.

I guess he kept on Del Piero because of his set pieces and the fact that he was getting closer in each one he was taking.

Del Neri: 'Juve not title material'
Sunday 12 September, 2010
Gigi Del Neri insists Juventus “are not Scudetto material,” while Mimmo Di Carlo hails an improving Sampdoria.
The Bianconeri picked up their first point of the season this afternoon in a 3-3 thriller against Samp.

“The team showed that the difficulties seen against Bari a fortnight ago have been overcome,” said Del Neri.

“Now we also have to get past our defensive distractions. Sampdoria have some very interesting players in attack, but we need to be more aggressive and close the gaps between the lines.

“I am interested that the side was much more solid both going forward and defending, as it was a different performance to Bari.”

All the top teams have been shocked in Serie A in the first two rounds, so Juventus could still get back into the title race.

“No, we are not Scudetto material,” shrugged Del Neri. “We won’t set limitations, but we have a long way to go and have made many changes this summer.”

Sampdoria have four points from two games and did well to earn a point in Turin this afternoon.

“We played good football, often one-touch passing and I am very satisfied by the performances of young players like Nicola Pozzi, Obiang and Vladimir Koman.

“Antonio Cassano and Angelo Palombo were extraordinary today, while I also liked the character and qualities of the side.

“Our tactical objective was versatility, as we started with a 4-4-2 and then managed to move well in different ways.”

Chievo are top of the table this afternoon with a 100 per cent record, while Milan, Roma, Palermo, Fiorentina and Genoa were all beaten by minnows this weekend.

“It is a sign of modern football in which even the most technically gifted side starts to struggle if it is not prepared to work hard,” explained Di Carlo.

“We are studying to become a big club, which is necessary if we are to honour all three competitions.”

Agree that we are not scudetto material, and I suppose we should all have lower expectations this year as we are rebuilding.

But should Del Neri be writting us off after two games in a season where we really need some confidence? Not really convinced about this.

Or is he trying to calm the players down and take a bit of pressure off them? Or is he trying to spark a reaction from them to prove him wrong?

Whatever he is going for here its an interesting comment to make.

He's trying to take pressure off the team. Also, to probably shield him from the heat he'll get, not only after this display, but (considering our limitations), others to come.

Tbh, we're not Scudetto material cuz we filled the team with a lot of unnecessary signings instead of keeping some players and signing a bit more quality. With Diego, Giovinco and Krasic we would have a wonderful attack and we could have afforded to sign better fullbacks than Traore and Motta.
