It's becoming hard to bare the fact that every coach that comes here is too insecure to even give the 4-2-3-1 a fair chance even tough the players we have are best suited for it.
The only thing i can come up with against the 4-2-3-1 is if Del neri thinks that playing only one ST and having 4/5 on the bench is a waste, but he is gonna play diego there who isnt even a ST.

I DONT GET IT

actually 4-4-1-1 is like saying 4-2-3-1 in another way
:disagree: They are different.

in 4-4-1-1,the one behind the lone ST takes more responsibility in driving the play
BUT in 4-2-3-1,all the three behind the lone ST do their job equally.

The wings in 4-4-1-1 usually play widly but in 4-2-3-1 the do cut inside, therefore the fullbacks in 4-4-1-1 don't have to push forward much during the game and preferd to concentrate on defending wihle in 4-2-3-1 the fullback are used much in the flanks as the wings cut inside so the the balance is made.

The ST's roles, functions n movement(especially off the ball) also differ in both the formation.

i know a lot about tactics formations etc.i've studied that sector of football a lot.
i never said that 4 4 1 1 and 4 2 3 1 are equal.but admit it,there arent many differences.

i mean.while on attack using the 4 4 1 1 we have:2 wingers for support+2 strikers,the deep lying forward and the real striker.whick actually looks like a 4 2 3 1.

while on defending both formations look like 4-5-1.

with strong fullback the 4-2-3-1 is perfect, but last season it tends to expose us becuase of the bad fullbacks we have and the slowness of the diffence and different other reasons, anyway we are starting in a 4-4-1-1 formation which combact the team until we grew in confidence and from there we could easily shift to 4-2-3-1

You guys are missing the most important factor IMO.

The biggest diff. between the two is not only how the wingers/wide players actualy behave but also what players are going to play.

playing 442 with our current squad means that players like Martinez,Pepe and Lanza will play. it is a mistake IMO as they offer very littel in terms of pushing the team foreword and providing needed creativity to an isolated Diego.

playing 4-2-3-1 means that players like Camo,Gio will play more and that is a good thing. even the above mentioned players can give more in that formation as they wont need to push forword alone as much and i see them as limited players that need to do a less as possible to shine.

------Amauri-------
Giovinco----Diego----Martinez/Pepe
--Marchisio--
--Melo--
--Grygera--Chiellini--Bonnuci--Motta
--Buffon--
essentially . lemme try to explain it

amauri- the target man soaks up all the pressure cause he is big
gio- winger supports amauri/ someone for diego to play of off
martinez/pepe- not sure how these 2 play but from the little ive seen the latter is not really a winger so pepe would be a midfielder dropping back and supporting all around
marchisio- box to box mid, more focused on supporting diego and soaking up a bit of pressure
melo- will make marchisio's job easier by being a defensive mid purely focusing on a defense , meaning he will rarely attack
grygera- I would like him to play as a full back , kinda like a mini dani alves, and supporting gio since he is so little
chiellini- the rock at the back
bonnuci - same role as chiellini
motta- less attacking should sit back a bit

It's pretty much a 4-2-3-1. With Marchisio going forward and Melo staying back.
yeah pretty much what he said lol
There are lots of tactical experts being wasted on this forum. Such a shame.
am only 18 lol, I still prefer to actually play the game, although when am playing im tactically poor more of a ronaldo esq player . Wish I could coach a team though
