This is beyond epic. When 2 thieves in Wenzhou, China snatched a purse from a woman and rode off on their motor scooter to flee the scene, a passerby on a bicycle stopped and got off his bike, and then proceeded to throw the bike onto the crooks in order to halt their escape. The thieves were knocked clean off of the motor bike and presumably taken into custody.

The best part is that it’s all caught on video which you can see below:

According to relatives, Verma had developed a taste for fast cars and high living and was a regular at some of the city's most exclusive hotel clubs.

Pavan Verma, 22, plotted his own disappearance with a friend to force his father to hand over £25,000 after his girlfriend told him she wanted to spend New Year in style in the former Portuguese enclave of Macau in southern China.

According to detectives, Verma had developed a taste for fast cars and high living – he was a regular at some of the city's most exclusive hotel clubs.

But he could not afford his girlfriend's dream holiday because his party lifestyle had forced him into debt. When his debts reached £10,000 he hatched the plot to defraud his own family.

Mr Verma disappeared after he left his father's shop in the city's Karol Bagh district on Boxing Day.

When his father called him on his mobile phone his 'kidnapper' answered, telling him his son was being beaten up and that he would only be released after the payment of a two million rupee (£25,000) ransom.

The family discovered Mr Verma's plot when his brother delivered the payment.

Police said Mr Verma would not face charges if his father withdrew the complaint.

"If the father, who is the complainant in the case, decides to withdraw the complaint, the son can walk free with the orders of the court," a police office told The Hindustan Times.

An airline passenger ate his £8,930 winning scratch card after he was told he could not claim the money immediately, it has emerged.

The unnamed man was flying with Ryanair from Krakow in Poland to East Midlands Airport when he won 10,000 euros with the scratch card.

Crew on board the flight confirmed he had won the prize but told the passenger he would have to collect the jackpot directly from the company that runs the competition as it was such a large sum.

Ryanair said the man then became frustrated and started to eat his winning ticket, ruling out any chance he had of claiming the prize money which will now be donated to charity.

Stephen McNamara, a spokesman for the airline, said: "Passengers have always been delighted to claim their large cash prizes after returning home.

"Unfortunately our latest winner felt that we should have his 10,000 euros prize kicking around on the aircraft."

The airline is now asking passengers to vote online to decide where the money should go, after the win on Thursday. Voting will take place until March 5 at www.ryanair.com.

A suspected burglar in the US had incriminating evidence written all over his face - distinct tattoos that left him easily spotted.

It would not take a super-sleuth to find 20-year-old Anthony Brandon Gonzales in a crowd.

He has been arrested on suspicion of burgling the home of an Elvis impersonator in Colorado's Pueblo County.

A witness had told police one of the culprits had "East Side" emblazoned on his upper lip.

Gonzales - hardly a criminal mastermind - also has "13" tattooed on his chin in the shape of a goatee beard.

Both pieces of body art are said to have been visible - even though the hapless burglar had donned a mask.

Already in jail on a separate drug offence, Gonzales has now been charged over the burglary.

Sgt Eric Bravo said: "It's hard to miss him.

NEW DELHI: Indian police are holding a pigeon under armed guard after it was caught on an alleged spying mission for arch rivals and neighbours Pakistan, media reported on Friday.

The white-coloured bird was found by a local resident in India's Punjab state, which borders Pakistan, and taken to a police station 40 kilometres (25 miles) from the capital Amritsar.

The pigeon had a ring around its foot and a Pakistani phone number and address stamped on its body in red ink.

Police officer Ramdas Jagjit Singh Chahal told the Press Trust of India (PTI) news agency that they suspected the pigeon may have landed on Indian soil from Pakistan with a message, although no trace of a note has been found.

Officials have directed that no-one should be allowed to visit the pigeon, which police say may have been on a “special mission of spying”.

The bird has been medically examined and was being kept in an air-conditioned room under police guard.

Senior officers have asked to be kept updated on the situation three times a day, PTI said.

Chahal said local pigeon fanciers in the sensitive border area had told police that Pakistani pigeons were easily identifiable as they look different from Indian ones, according to the Indian Express newspaper.— AFP
