4-2 and still an awful game. If it weren't for Torres you shouldn't couldn't watch Liverpool. He's worth every penny, but boy, what a horrible, horrible team.

This might go down as the worst Champions League in history as well.
Barcelona, Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea. That's just ...
I agree i dislike every team in it. At this point tho as long as Barca don't win it I don't care very much about who does. Chelsea are probably the team i dislike the least.

it's so true, sure everyone would love to have an incredible team playing sexy football while winning, but Liverpool doesn't have the money or the players or the youth setup to do this. so, we win with what we have. that's what most teams do. we're just better at winning with shit players
Actually in recent years Liverpool have spent more money than both Man Utd and Arsenal, in Arsenals case Liverpool in the last 4 years have spent double what Arsenal spent. So not having money isnt really an excuse here.

Actually no. Before Torres our biggest transfer was Cisse. And what are you basing it on?

Latest News: Rick Parry was asked to resign by Hicks. Parry basically said go fuck yourself. While I think things need to be shaken up at Anfield, let's wait til the end of the season to worry about this shit.

I don't get why Hicks would want to do this in public.

He is unpopular already and this uncertainty can only have an adverse effect on the club.

He's just trying to be self destructive because Gillet won't let him sell the club. If we are going to be successful as a football club, this grade school shit has got to stop.

No doubt it is trying to move towards a sale, but all this stuff is damaging Liverpool's image and performance, and therefore could effect the value of the club.

The Dubai Group is now saying that they are not interesting in bidding until the co-owners get themselves sorted out.

I don't blame them at all. Right now Liverpool is not a sound investment, with our huge debt and the in-fighting between the Chairman, Manager, and owners.

Modric happy with Reds talk
Liverpool and not Spurs head hunt for Croat

By Vlatko Siljanovski Last updated: 11th April 2008

Luka Modric admits he is flattered at claims that Liverpool have made a move to sign him.

It was reported in England that Tottenham had made moves to try and land the highly-rated midfielder - who has also attracted attention from Chelsea, Arsenal and Barcelona in recent months.

But the Croat media, says it is not Tottenham, but Liverpool who have made a firm offer for the 22-year-old.

Modric will almost certainly depart Dinamo Zagreb in the summer and the battle to sign him is firmly on, with Liverpool reported to be heading the queue.

Dinamo want around £18million for their prized asset, who is rated as one of the most impressive young midfielders in world football.

At just 22 - Modric is already a lynch-pin of the Croatian national side who comfortably dispatched of England in qualifying for Euro 2008.

Flattered

Modric has now admitted that he is delighted that Liverpool could be interested in signing him.

"I don't wish to discuss possible transfers, but if Liverpool really want me, then this is fantastic and I am truly honoured," he told Vecernji list.

"I watched the Champions League quarter-finals and the way they crushed Arsenal. Only the greatest and the best can play such a match against strong Arsenal"

i'm not sure if you're right at least compared to manu, arsenal, yeah, we've probably spent more, but arsenal are different. what I really mean is that we haven't been making the big purchases that chelsea and manu have done, we're more likely to spend 5-8 million on a bit-part player, while manu or chelsea or more likely to spend 13 million or more, and get top young players or superstars. obviously, in the case of Torres and babel, that is what we did, but manu have been doing that for years, and chelsea, well, nothing needs to be said

I saw statistics recently (cant find the link though ) that showed how much each of the big four spent in the past few years, Liverpool spent more money on players than Man Utd

I agree with the second part though, but thats Rafa's policy. Its his fault, money cant be used as an excuse in your case.

Because this is Misc Soccer. According to your logic, we should close The Hangout and Off Topic too, because it has nothing to do with Juve.

no i didnt mean it has nothing to do with juve so it should be closed but i mean why have a thread directed to one team, why not instead discuss it in the misc soccer thread. i suppose its not really up to me to decide what should happen and not. i was just wondering.
