Secondly, no rockets were fired since the ceasefire which came in the beginning of last week ! Let me ask you - will liverpool have agreed to come to Eilat ? How is England a safer place anyway with the IRA bombings, the bombing of the londron trains by Al Qaida etc ?
A big team like liverpool shouldn't be afraid of a team like Haifa... suddenly Haifa is such a strong opponent ? Why not play two matches in liverpool and that's it ?
Are you familiar with the notion of fair play ? If it's a neutral ground, play two matches in a netural ground, and let UEFA decide for themselves without influencing the board, and threatening not to adhere to their decisions.
If it was this close when Haifa played two away games, then obviously Liverpool didn't deserve to go through.

As for the IRA and Al-Queda comparisons, those situations are totally different. IRA doesn't really blow much up anymore and Al-Queda is hardly in open war with Britain. Unlike Isreal and Hezbollah.
Secondly,how many Liverpool fans have you met and how many matches have you attended? If you're answer is anywhere close to what I think it is, which is not many. Then you really have no room to make judgements. So I guess this brings us to Heysel which for some reason you keep saying I had something to with. Sorry man I wasn't there, I wasn't even born and I've never stabbed anyone in my life. As for my compatriots who are mostly old men now, I can't speak for them, I can only say I'm sorry for what they did. I'm a Liverpool fan since 1998. I won't bore you with the heart warming story of how I came love this team. The fact is that I have been a respected member of this forum for almost a year now and have not suffered even a warning. One of my best friends is a Juve fan and that is how I found my way here. I sit back, talk about football and other topics, and am never disrespectful except every once in a while when some disgruntled fan decides he needs to prove himself by having a go at me. Not unlike yourself.
I really don't know why you keep up at this. What do you from me? Do you want me to say Liverpool don't deserve to go through? Because that will never happen. I will agree the Maccabi were short changed by not having an away game, but that is hardly the fault of Liverpool FC who were only looking out for the safety of their fans and players.

Rafa Benitez's injury worries show no sign of subsiding with the Liverpool boss confirming that both Mohamed Sissoko and Stephen Warnock picked up knocks in the UEFA Champions League qualifier against Maccabi Haifa.
The Reds ensured their spot in the group stages in Kiev on Tuesday night but the victory came at a cost with the two players joining a lengthening list of the injured at Anfield.
Warnock, removed after just 28 minutes, is expected to be absent for two weeks with an ankle injury whilst influential midfielder Sissoko could be out for up to three weeks due to the knee problem he sustained in the second half.
With John Arne Riise and Jamie Carragher picking up injuries in the opening game of the Premiership season against Sheffield United, and new signing Gabriel Paletta also on the sidelines, Benitez has an under strength squad for the visit of West Ham on Saturday and the Spanish chief is trying to get his head around another fitness setback so early in the season.
"We are in the group stages and I believe we deserve to be so after creating so many chances," said Benitez.
"But it was very disappointing to lose another two players through injury.
"Stephen's is hopefully not too serious but Momo could be out for two or three weeks. We will have to see."
A draw in Kiev was enough for Liverpool to reach the lucrative group stages of the UEFA Champions League, but Benitez has pledged that his side will improve after a tricky start to the season that also saw them draw with Neil Warnock's Blades at the weekend.
"We are not at 100 percent yet, I know that," Benitez added.
"It has been a difficult preparation for this season with so many of the players returning at different times from the World Cup.
"When we have got over this game with West Ham and then the two-week international break you will see a side improving and progressing together and ready to take on the really big teams in the Champions League.
"You will see a much better team then."

player saftey is an excuse of a loser attitude. There was no danger for the safety of players, none.
Israel and Hizbollah had a ceasefire, you keep forgetting it. There was no "open war" which was limited to the northern side of Israel anyway. Can you guarantee there won't be any more incidents in England when Haifa had to be escored by police right after the game because all of England's airports were closed and flights detained because of al qaida threat just NOW ????
It doesn't matter if you were there or not, it's liverpool fans, it's their general attitude.

You know I even was somewhat ashamed of our fans reaction during the Liverpool - Juventus game. I mean, Liverpool really wanted to apologize for what happened at the Heysel and they reacted like that... I didn't like that.

Liverpool will have to battle it out with PSV Eindhoven, Bordeaux and Galatasaray to qualify for the knock-out stages of the Champions League after the UEFA draw was made in Monaco on Thursday afternoon.
While the Reds were joined by Manchester United and Arsenal as top seeds in pot one, Chelsea and Celtic had to be content with a place in pot 2 for the draw at the Grimaldi Forum. The knock-on effect was that while Liverpool avoided the likes of Real Madrid and AC Milan, Chelsea ended up sharing a group with top seeds and current Champions League holders Barcelona while Celtic were paired with the Old Trafford club.
Though Liverpool's Group C will see the Reds travelling to Holland, France and Istanbul - the scene of our amazing Champions League final triumph in 2005 - manager Rafael Benitez will be relieved to have avoided winter trips to the Ukraine and Russia.
The match against Bordeaux - a side Liverpool have never played in European competition - will present Istanbul hero Vladimir Smicer with the chance to once again play at Anfield and for the Kop to thank him for his crucial goals in the final.
The game against PSV, the current Dutch champions and another team the Reds have yet to face in a competitive match, will see Benitez once again go head-to-head with Ronald Koeman, the man who masterminded Benfica's knock-out victory over Liverpool in the competition last season.
The final team out of the pot was Galatasaray and although 40,000 Reds fans made Istanbul their second home in May 2005, the last time the Reds actually played the Turkish title holders was in February 2002 when the two sides drew 1-1 in the second group stage of the Champions League.

How about letting the past rest, no matter how much you blame the current fans of Liverpool and the club itself is going to change what happened. And I never said that you couldn't take the position of Haifa. And you're absolutely right when you say that this isn't a tribute thread but you have to understand that this is a thread for honest discussion, and not a Liverpool bash thread, which is all that you've been doing here.
I never liked Liverpool. You cannot keep the past behind you until it is resolved but I never said that it has. I never cared for the British(the attackers off course) that were involved in the incident (as I was never there) but my heart did go out for all the Italians who died in this tragedy. Thanks to the jackass who suggested that they should play in that stadium, he should be the one that's punished.

ok mate, I just made a couple of posts. Enron didn't have to reply back so touchy like, it's not like I've been bashing this thread for years. I've always been bothered with Liverpool because of Heysel yet I didn't make even one post about it here. The Haifa situation annoyed me, so I decided to reply back to a post by Enron talking about the match with my feelings. It strikes me as amazing , I have to say, that a guy who has no likeness to Juve is opening a thread about liverpool here and indulging himeslf in it. I'm sure there are liverpool forums where he can interact with many liverpool fans. Not that i mind him being here of course, but he somehow has a superiority complex to himeslf about this Liverpool and allows himself to bash Juve, all this in a Juventus forum, that seems screwed up to me.
