STRIKER SIGNS ANFIELD DEAL
Paul Eaton 16 May 2006
Robbie Fowler has today put pen to paper on his Liverpool contract to tie him to the club for next season.
Fowler originally signed a six month deal in January but has impressed Rafael Benitez and the management staff sufficiently to warrant a new one year deal.

The agreement between both parties was reached last week and the Reds' striker officially signed his new deal today.

Fowler said: "It's been a great season for the club and it finished off in the best way possible by winning the FA Cup in Cardiff.

"Obviously I was a bit disappointed to be cup-tied for the competition but to be honest being offered a new Liverpool contract was my cup final.

"I'm looking forward to next season already and can't wait to get started. I think it could be another great one for the club."

FIVE YOUNG REDS TO BE RELEASED
Mark Platt 18 May 2006
Liverpoolfc.tv can officially reveal that five youngsters will be released by the club when their contracts end this summer.
Robbie Foy, Ramon Calliste, Paul Willis, Paul Lancaster, Calum Woods have all been told they are not being retained for next season and are free to look for new clubs.

None of the above managed to break into the first team, although Scottish under-21 international Foy, who spent a spell out on loan at Wrexham last season, was an unused substitute in a Carling Cup tie against Tottenham in 2004.

Welsh under-21 striker Calliste, who signed on a one-year contract last summer, was a regular for the reserves last season, while Willis, Lancaster and Woods were fringe members of the second string squad.

I am glad to see Fowler sign for another year. He's a great player even though he is the wrong side fo thirty, I believe he can still do a great job for Liverpool.

Come on Jem. Be a sport. You're the only person on this forum who has a problem with this thread. This thread will never be closed as long as I am a poster on this forum and if it is I'll just make a new one. With that said there is no real reason to close this thread, considering it is mostly used as a match report and news thread to help those on this site that follow Liverpool there is no reason to call for its close. There is nothing anti Juve about this thread. I think it is time to put the sour grapes in the garbage my friend.

Duo keen on Camoranesi
By Nadia Carminati - Created on 10 Jun 2006

As the vultures continue to circle relegation threatened Juventus, both Liverpool and Bayern Munich have been linked with midfielder Mauro German Camoranesi.

Doubts currently surround the future of all of the Bianconeri's top stars due to the current scandal afflicting the Serie A champions.

With allegations of match fixing still waiting to be resolved, Fabio Capello's side may yet be demoted to Serie B, inevitably leading to an exodus of their top names.

Camoranesi, who is based in Germany with Marcello Lippi's Italian World Cup squad, is the latest name to be linked with an exit and reports in Italy suggest that FA Cup winners Liverpool and the German champions are watching the developing situation with interest.

The Argentinian-born midfielder is highly unlikely to compromise his international prospects by spending one season at least in the Italian lower leagues, and both parties could be ready to pounce should Juve be punished heavily.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez has been keen to reinforce his right-sided options for the last 12 months whilst Bayern are looking to compensate for the loss of captain Michael Ballack to Chelsea.

The Rossoneri's dream of signing Daniel Alves has canished completely, as the player's agent, Jose Rodriguez Baster, admitted that his client wants just Liverpool.

"I can say that without any doubt he wants Liverpool only.

"Personally I did not speak to any other club, whoever called spoke directly to Sevilla, but Daniel wants to play with Liverpool."

The Spanish club are asking 15 million Euros for the services of their defender.
