2011/2012:

Elia - 9M (-5.5M) = 3.5M
Motta - 4M
Padoin - 5M
Borriello - 0.5M

2012/2013:

Gabbiadini - 3.5M + 1/2 Troisi
Boakye - 4M
Leali - 3.8M
Peluso - 2M
Giovinco - 11M
1/2 Giaccherini - 4.25M (pointless since we co-owned him for only 6 months, he could keep playing for us without having to buy the other half now)
Bendtner - 1.5M

Total: 13M + 30M = 43M.

Not all players in this list are shitty or useless, but some are just projects and we'll never know if they'll end up playing for the club. Not priorities, in other words.

Now, with an aditional 43M to some 20M - at least - we alledgely still have you tell me if we couldn't get a great striker.

I'm pretty sure we could have bought a much better striker. But look at the options that circulated in the media.

Van Persie: 30 mill and 15 mill/year. No way we could match that.
Cavani: Would only leave for a shitload of money. 40-50 mill. We were not going to pay that.
Dzeko: City openly stated he could only leave if they got someone to replace him. They didn't so he couldn't leave.
Llorente: 36 mill for Llorente. Hell no.

All these players were either too expensive or were not available.

The motto on here he was either buy a very good player or don't buy at all. We didn't buy a striker, we just loaned one. I don't see the problem.
From my point of view it is absolutely legitimate not too buy players you think are overpriced.
