Its a turnover list.
Yes it is.
In case someone still doesn't understand what does this mean, it's the total income that these clubs received during the season from their activities (tv rights, sold players, ticket money, CL/UEFA money etc), without counting the money poured into the clubs by their owners.

This isn't the profit these clubs made, it's only the income, without counting the expenses.

This makes Bayern's position even more admirable. They didn't play CL, they didn't get the tv rights money from CL and yet they're placed on 4th. But Bayern are known as a very economic club that doesn't pay big money for wages, doesn't spend much on the market and they don't have some crazy expenses. That partly explains why are they standing so strong on the list.

ooohh ok, that explains alot about the list. but i figure that we would be a bit lower on the list if it was listed by revenue

I assume that this has to do with how the TV broadcasting money are distributed. I think that in EPL all of them get the same amount of money in the beginning.
For example, at the start both ManUtd and Hull get £25m as part of an equal share of revenue. Then they get the aditional money depending on how many times their matches were broadcasted live and depending on their final position in the standings.

In Italy, at least in the past, the clubs negotiated the tv rights separately and this way Milan, Juve and Inter were always getting much more than the others.
Again with an example, instead of equally sharing the money so everyone could get...lets say... 25m, Juve, Milan and Inter were getting 70m, while Roma were getting 25m and Bologna were getting 10m.
I don't know if it was the case in 07/08 but if it was then we again got a lot of money from the tv rights.

i agree, i doubt the tv rights are equally distributed in Serie A. we all know that the EPL has unspeakable amounts of money powering it, thus allowing for numerous tv broadcasting deals, but Serie A isn't at that level where the money/marketing can even sustain such a business model.

It does. Every income these clubs received during the season from THEIR OWN activities is included. So, money gained from sold players are also included.
Only the gifts (which in this case can be read as: Money given to the team by the owner, without asking for anything in return) aren't included.

Only 2 spanish teams in the top 20, yet teams like Villareal, Seville, etc, are able to compete.
Yeah, but Manchowder is slipping after winning the CL, which seems odd...

Probably because Real's response to any challenge is to throw more money at it.
