i surely must be totally wrong as lippi is a experience pro, but imo our defence is undenibly requiring change......luliano etc jus cant do what they need, our defensive leader are old, and the replacemnt jus not good enough..

But i cant criticise the management team.....cos they usaully successfull.

“When a team scores a lot of goals then that is down to the overall attitude of the side,” maintained the Bianconeri boss. “The same applies to the defence.”
i think Lippi is being ignorant here. when we score loads of goals, its because we have players such as del piero, trezeguet, miccoli, di vaio and nedved who all on their day can cause havoc against any defence. These players can still all play at the highest level, even if they are not inform. They bodies are up for it so to speak.

But, our defence is a different story. Players such as Montero, Ferrara, Iuliano, Pessotto are not physically up for it anymore, as rude as it may sound:D Montero cant run, Ferrara has lossed agility, Iuliano has lossed it also.

so how is the overall attitude of the team going to help not conceed goals? have 7 players in defence?? even then, i think we may conceed goals at the moment.

facts are facts, we need a defender who has pace and can handle good forwards in europe, and now even serie A.

what does worry me is that if a youngster was to join, he would be still be on bench and the likes of montero would still be in the line up.

i'd rather have a younger player who is capable of keeping up with forwards with less experience than a defender who has all the experience in the world but cant do anything with it as his legs dont agree with his head.

I am sorry I have to disagree with Lippi this time. I think we DO need new defenders if we were to gain something. Plainly put, our defenders are old and lacks pace. The likes of young hot strikers could outpace us anytime. They're not as sharp either. Again, the effect would be the same- they would all outpace, outskill, outdone our defenders. Maybe for January to get new defenders would be too late now. So I do hope our defense could survive for one more season. When the season ends, I really do think we need fresher, younger blood. One or two will do. And I hope we really do sell fresi. He's just a waste here.

Aren't you the same guy that said a few weeks back that moving Thuram to central defence would just make our defence worse because Lilian sucks in that position?
Yeah, that's me, but I said that because it was in referrence to buying Oddo. What I meant was that it would be more effective to buy a central defender. And Thuram woudn't make the central defence worse, but buying a real central defender would help the defence more than putting Thuram there.

talk about looking forward to 2004-02-01
this month has been a draaaag! with so much other stuff going on yet every new day you wake up the first thing you tell your self is, later visit
gazzetta, football italia, juve forums and then there it is, nothing new!

perhaps you find another rumour, but instead you get more pissed than happy, since they tend to always suggest Maresca or Miccoli to be leaving as well...
