Marcello Lippi will talk to the media after this afternoon's training session.

Will he announce that he's leaving?
Staying as the coach?
Staying in a management role?
New signings?

More news later........

Firstly, I would like to thank Lippi for what he has done with our club. In his first tenure, he turned sleeping giants which was increasingly resembling Inter into world-conquering dynasty through solid coaching and smart scouting. In his second tenure, he has turned a competitive team into winners by adding discipline and stealth into the squad.

On the other hand, I do believe this was the right time for Lippi to leave. It would be great if Italia actually had decent coach for a change. Secondly, we are entering into another generation of players and therefore new evaluation of talent and tactic is needed to make the successful. Lippi was able to pick out and develop likes of Del Piero, Montero, Ferrara, Deschamp, Zidane, Di Livio, Jugovic, Zambrotta, Nedved, Thuram generation but now we are entering era of Kaka, Tevez, VDV, Rooney, Gilardinho, Diego and co.

Anyway I would prefer Deschamp as a successor even though I think Prandelli would also make a good coach.

Here are pros on Prandelli

1. Moderate success in the club managment.
Good job keeping Verona and making them extremely competitive.
Also doing outstanding job at Parma right now.

2. He is relatively more experienced at managing club than Deschamp.

3. Developing good young talents. If I am correct, he was the one who found and developed Morfeo, Locatelli, Ambrosini, Tachinardi in all conquering Atalanta youth team. He was also able to complement young talents such as Frey with experienced players such as Apolloni to keep Verona in Serie A. Ditto Parma, but with a lot more success.

4. Former Juve legend gives him rapport with the fans.

5. Managing well with relatively limited resources.

Pros on Deschamp.

1. Great success in management upto now.
Second in his first season, and CL semi in his second. It is wonderful CV for any manager never mind young coach. The fact that he never had formal training on management prior to his current stunt with Deschamp is remarkarble.

2. Great CV as a player.
As great player Prandelli was, Deschamp simply had better career. World Cup winner, European Cup winner, CL winner, 2 times CL finalist, 3 Scudetti, and almost of all them as Captain. This is what people dream of when they are child and Deschamp achieved all this not primarily through natural talent but hard work and desire. Eric Cantona can call him "water carrier" as much as he want, but Deschamp will ultimately remebered as the great not him. And there are so much he can pass on to young players.

3. Great rapport from the fans and players.
Any fan who doesnt regard Deschamp as a Juve legend is not a Juve fan.
He will be a great fan fav. Already he is my fav. coach. Although I do not buy into old "friends" thing that will help him do well with his job, I do believe that being a legend Deschamp will receive upmost respect from the young players. They will regard him as their idol.

4. High profile coach helps to re-juvenate our image and marketing value. Alright, I do not like Juve turning into Real Mardrid; spending on stars to get the front page. But imagine this: A CL final winner joining his former club in order to lead them into next dynasty. This would give publicity in terms of marketing value and added attraction to the players such as VDV, who we are suppose to be following.

5. Outstanding resource management and an experience of having faced similar situation to current Juve. Monaco was a big team with limited resources and declining performances. Deschamp turned them into CL semi finalist without spending big transfer market money. After all, Morientes was his biggest signing this season and he in on loan.
