With one game remaining in the first half of the season, a win for Juventus in Bergamo would see the Bianconeri end the opening round of matches as league leaders. And whilst being satisfied at the great strides made under Antonio Conte’s stewardship, Stephan Lichtsteiner refuses to rest on his laurels.*
The full-back, speaking exclusively to Sky Italia, said: “We’ve done well up until now, but we still haven’t won anything. The two points dropped on Sunday still frustrate us. So that means that we’ll look to get all three on Saturday. It won’t be easy because Atalanta have a great home record. We must be aggressive, play the game to our tempo and remain alert in defence.”*
Lichtsteiner’s summer arrival from Lazio has coincided with the team going a club record 18 games unbeaten. The Swiss international has played a vital role in a rock solid defence that has conceded just twelve goals.*
However, he believes that the entire group must share the plaudits for their achievement: “The credit goes to the whole team because everyone covers and pulls in the same direction. We need to continue on this path. Perhaps we’ve been less impressive than usual in the last two games, but we haven’t got any physical nor psychological problems. I regard all my team-mates as being in form.”
