Bonucci seemed to be arguing with hat-trick hero Ciro Immobile at the final whistle and refused to swap shirts.

“Some things happened with Immobile, but they were on the pitch and remain on the pitch.”

He's just a petulant wanker, isn't he?

he was great here even in a 4 man backline. number of CBs shouldn't be the problem
It's the role he plays which is important. He was never meant to be the proverbial last line of defense. It was always Chiellini who had the job of marking strikers out of the game, Bonucci to pick up the crumbs.

Pretending that he is become trash player owernight is stupid. He was great here, on the other hand it's quite possible he won't be able ever to get on Juve level.
No one here seriously thinks he's trash.

But he did benefit by playing alongside two defensive beasts like Chiellini and Barzagli, he had a lot more protection from the opposition with those two beside him. And let's face it, he was never a great "pure" defender anyway, he'd constantly get skinned in one-on-ones, and he's pretty slow and clumsy too.

Of course, he is at his best as a sweeper, almost a libero, everyone knows that. That's why when Montella is gonna switch to back 3 with Romagnoli and Mussachio he is gonna at least resemble his former self sometimes. But it's gonna take a time to gel, apart from that Barza, Chiello, Rugani and even Medhi are superior to his new partners. All I am saying that Bonucci always like that, he didn't become an average overnight.

EDIT: It doesn't mean I won't laught at him now of course

He needs Romagnoli next to him rather than Musacchio in a 4 man defense. But considering the (lack of) chemistry between their defensive and midfield lines, they are better off switching to a 352 than the circus they showed yesterday

Bonucci always gives the impressive he excels in good teams, struggles when things aren't great. I can think of several attacking instances (key pass or shot) where he's got the team out of a hole when they were struggling, but generally as a defender when the team suffered he suffered a lot. You wouldn't see an imperious backs-to-the-wall defensive performance, he's not that sort of player. He's the deepest playmaker who can defend a bit. If Milan don't utilise and protect him well he'll look terrible more often than he did with Juve.

He has played mostly a deep defensive line in his career.

It looked like Milan were playing quite a high line when he got exposed in that 1 on 1 situation.

It was probably a combination of things why he played so bad

No back 3 to offer him more protection, high line and a new team.

He is definitely not as bad as people are making him out to be but he had the ideal setup at Juve to cover some of his weaknesses.

He was responsible for the first goal in the CL final as well, it was a good hit by Ronaldo but if Bonucci didn't have his head in the clouds he would have cleared the shot before it even reached the net.

We may have seen the best of him at Juve and maybe he's on the decline, it will be interesting to see how it goes for him at Milan in the next season or two
