The only time Bonucci was good at defending, was the moments he was not participating at the process at all...
Defending involves man marking, performing tacklins and clearances and dipossessing opposition players, Bonucci is not qualified for any of the above, passing around the ball is a general atribute, which does makes him remotely usefull and distiquishes him, form the Molinaro class field runners, but still does not qualifies as defending...
Avoid to participate at defedning is indeed the best thing bonucci can offer to the team, as this is the optimal way to avoid making his characteristic brain farts.
Luckily, at games we face inferior competition, we can offer him the privilege of not having to try to defend at all, and when such a rare occassion becomes inevitable, Barzagli is there to do the dirty job.
In this match, we also had the opportunity to admire Caceres doing an impressive clearance.
Caceres as a more offensive orientated player and is more excused by the Bonucci class, to have those defensive lapses. It is impressive that he has shown that he has reached a better defensive level to Bonucci's, without this being his primary concern.
We sgould start worrying about Bonucci, because as that age, the CBs ought to learn how to tackle by now, or clear those crosses, unfortunately Bonucci is reassured by the extreme favorism that he enjoys due to nationalistic reasons and the technical inabilities of his defensive teammates, to perfrom decent passes. Facts that make him take the starter mantle for granted and dont try to improve at the most vital attributes a defender ought to master.
Conte must press him harder with the Ogbonna alternative, in order to motiavate him to improve!

Yeh, dont know why peeps believe Cron is exxagerating or trolling. He is saying the plain truth about Bonucci.
Remember the play where INmobile destroyed the rod of the net?. In the whole play Bonucci doesnt even bothered to follow Inmobile. His reaction was pathetic.
Any other capable defender would have desperately tried to chase inmobile just to be sure nothing happens....because Inmobile was still in play until he missed the shot.
Those are the things that frustrates me the most about him. Not only his blunders..but his reaction times are abysmal..and he is just too clumsy to be a decent tackler.

Yeah I noticed that. But as long as he doesn't make blunders I'm satisfied, for now. Cron is perfectly right about him, if you disregard the aspect of nationalism on which he likes to dwell upon. I hope he can still improve, but what he's showing this year it's like he took few steps back. I know he's better than this, but to become pillar of our defense he'd need to improve massively.
That might have something to do with his field position...and besides, yesterdays game showed the opposite of that (see Bonucci's runs).
Quite simply I don't understand how a defender who is quite clearly the starting point of our team's attack, who is an attacking weapon, is not the best attacking 'defender' we have.
