Basic physics, he had to let the ball run across him and strike it before it went out, so there is less control of the rolling ball. A left footer would easily have dealt with it. Obviously he should have kicked it out, just as Buffon shouldn't have passed to him. It actually baffles me why Buffon insists on keeping the short ball alive even when it's a far greater risk than hitting the ball long. We have Llorente up front...
