I think Telegraph is a respectable paper in Britain, right? It makes sense. Conte is probably drooling all over Bonucci's signing, and a 70M bid is on par with his value on the pitch.

But not on par with his value off the pitch.

Bonucci is the most determined player I've ever seen. The guy spent 2 hell years being hated by fans for his poor game, while playing almost every single match. I'm sure he was booed numerous times, playing in the most important position of the pitch - always the last man standing. All this while playing for the biggest club in Italy and being only 23/25 yrs.

I've never heard of a player who went from that situation, struggling under immense pressure, while the club also tried to get back on its feet, only to become one of the best in the world at his position, and a legend for one of the best clubs in Europe. It was definitely not a normal trajectory, and few times I've seen a player be under such scrutiny.

Right now I'd say he is our 2nd most influential player, only behind Buffon. A guy who became a hardcore Juventus fan and who defends the club all times, who is an example for every other player in the club. I mean, look at how the guy celebrates his goals. Wash your mouth when you talk about Juve - that's for all and every Italian Juve hater out there (60% of the country).

Bonucci will never leave Juve. Please give him a renewal according to his importance. 5.5M would be fair I guess.

Edit: he's also our ironman. You can count on fingers how many times he was rested the past 6 years. The guy NEVER gets injured, that's invaluable. I'd say he's played around 60 games a season during the past 5 or 6 years.

Also, Juve coaches are still deadly scared to let 352 go, and there's no 352 without Bonucci.

Basically, Bonucci is the man who provides stability to the team. And stability is probably the most treasured feature in the club and according to typical Italian mentality.

Really, I think Marotta would sell Dybala, Higuain or Marchisio before selling Bonucci. It will never happen, unless he really wanted to - and also that will never happen, specially considering his family situation. Stability is also key for him.

There's no sum that could pay the damages the club would suffer in its sporting performance without Bonucci right now. He's simply unsellable.

ps: this post could have some jynx effect. But not even that works when you talk about Bonucci.

I dont want to but for 70M you could easily switch to a 4 man defence and sign one or two top class players for the midfield and attack...

You'd be lucky if 70M gets you one top class player. And we're good in attack, so that would be a midfielder. A James or Isco for Bonucci? No thanks.
Ya obviously using 70M on Isco would be retarded but if we could come out with Koke/Saul + another good player, I would have to listen to the scenario.
