I think it's clear he takes a special enjoyment from trolling :D Much more than a regular, run-of-the-mill troll.

Btw I love how he uses the "skinny legs" comment and says we only like him cause we think he's sexy. Well I sort of do :ghey:
I'm also guilty as charged. The man is magnificent.

Defenders had to adapt because people realised lettingthem have time and guarding the good people off the ball was not as effective as pressuring them hard and organized and winning the ball back quickly. Every team in the world knows how to force a ball to a certain defender and close him down to win the ball back. Chiellinis ball skills arent much worse than any onther center back from 10 years ago but he is forced to have the ball more. 2003 Pirlo was always open to recieve from Gattuso and the backs. People soon learned that was a death wish

It's really a shame that members here ganging up on someone, is turning into a common happening, and not only that, the mods actively engage in this sick behavior.
I don't understand what part of what @Cronios is doing is trolling? (And I've read enough of his posts about Bonucci or Marotta over the years) The guy's just stating his opinion. He's not insulting Bonucci or making fun of him. He's just saying he's not a good defender. If only in lengthy and challenging posts. He's even said that the guy's improved over the years. And I kind of agree with him.

That challenge would be interesting. It would be a good showcase of Bonucci's defensive abilities or rather, lack there of. It will be a situation similar to our return leg against Sevilla, where he was caught numerous times on one-on-ones and was an embarrassing sight to behold. Also we shouldn't forget one of Bonucci's specialties: to hide behind other players, just to bail out and make himself unavailable for defensive duties. Now, that doesn't mean he won't do some defending every now and then, but that the burden is more on the shoulders of Barza and Chiello.

What he has improved a lot was his error prone nature. H was simply too error prone. He is not the most elegant defender there is..in fact he still looks like a retard when doing his things... but he has learned to anticipate well plays...improved his tackles and knows how to exploit his ball passing skills. That coupled with minimizing his errors substantially has helped him a lot.

His weak point continue being 1v1s on counters and freekicks/corner situations, but luckily we defend as a unit and can cover up this.
Agreed, Hyde. He used to be more prone to making the type of errors that would tend to show up on the score board. That was the killer, even in games where he was playing fairly well, he'd make a mistake that would end up in the net. His focus has improved a lot, and he's not making as many mental mistakes, he's not hesitating nearly as often. Read and react, less active thinking in between. A combination of improved understanding, and confidence.

I think you can point to just about any area of his game, and say that he's improved a fair bit over the past four years, although I think you nailed his weaker points. Generally, though, he's pretty dialled in these days, knows where he needs to be, and plays with an emotional edge. He's made a concerted effort to provide leadership, which is always nice to see... the guy really loves this club.

Gotta love how well the boys in our defensive unit compliment each other, everyone brings a different style to the backline. Definitely a huge reason why the group is so effective (beyond the fact that they're all well above average defenders, they have the best goalkeeper of all time behind them, and effectively the entire group actively supports them).

Apparently someone else needs to be ganged up on.

Seriously. Have you not watched Juve the last 3 years? Bonucci has turned into a world class defender, and yes, at defending. Not just ball-playing. He's a fantastic defender in big matches... occasionally has lapses in focus and brainfarts against provincial teams... But against big teams he's brilliant.

He's very good now 1v1, and excellent with tackling, intercepting, clearances, etc. Not just good, but excellent, just a small step down from the likes of Barza. His one remaining defensive weakness is aerially from set-pieces.
