If you're trying to say Chiellini has been good this year. :sergio:
He's been more than decent, put in some solid performances, did his task and stepped up when it was required, but looks clumsy as ever, especially when running with the ball, which has always been the issue with him. The later has absolutely nothing to do with his defensive traits, which are better than of 90% of defenders in today's game and I pass my judgment on his performances based on these.

I'm not judging him at all based on his performance with the ball at his feet going forward. He's been very poor defensively this season, relative to previous seasons. Now this may just be temporary with getting used to 4 at the back again, but he hasn't performed up to snuff, and has managed to "out-bonucci" Bonucci this year. He's made a large number of positioning errors, inexplicable defensive blunders, and his aerial presence defending set pieces has been plain mediocre.

What I will cede is that he is still a better defender than 80% of those out there, even in this form. Defending is a bit of a lost art right now.

This guy has been arguably been the best defender in Serie A this year. He's been immense, and he's cleaned up almost all the "bone-head" mistakes of the two previous years. The back 4 suits him immensely. It's Chiellini who sucks massively in this back 4. Bonucci has turned into a monster. He's at that age though.

Now if Ogbonna can develop over the next 1-2 years, we're set in defense. Add to that Rugani. :tuttosport:
All i can say is that he's vital for us this season. Not only because he has less brain farts, but also that he stays fit and therefore we can count on him all the time.

I'd say the truth is, as so incredibly often, somewhere between your two opinions. He hasn't been spectecular and experienced a few brainfarts, but overall I'd say he was decent. Bonucci was better, but not by that much, he's still had a few errors as well (as has every defender once in a while except perhaps three or four in the whole world.).

He'll get exposed by better teams, the teams in italy offer little in attack and the rest of the team are trojans.
I don't think he will. Looks like he genuinely improved this season, makes way less ridiculous and unneccesary errors. Tackling still isn't his forte, but he reads the game well. Teams in Italy offer very little in attack? That's gibbersish. Anyways Bonucci is infinitely better CB than the likes of Ramos, Pique or Luiz and these guys are considered defensive pillars in their respective teams. I know who I'd rather have in the backline.

This will confuse @Klin's feelings.

Wait till we play against a decent (not even top team) in Europe and we'll see how great he really is.

Personally I can see him screwing up against doutmond (even though they've been shit this season).
