You are clearly overrating them, Estonia shouldn't have given them any trouble.
The way I see it, they both handled what Estonia threw at them in the game. At this stage, I'd rather see them coming up against a tricky opposition and handling them well rather than see them have a walk in the park. More tests for them to improve their understanding and build a better partnership.

They handled most of it but I was a little worried how Estonia was at times able to hold possession and have enough space to shoot directly in front of Italy's box. Of course the midfield is to blame for some of this as well. They weren't bad but they didn't boss their area like I had hoped.

I do like Bonucci so far, he is great with the ball at his feet and not bad going forward.

It's not exactly the easiest Juve or Italy teams for him to play in right now, but I like the fact we have two big set piece weapons coming up from defence.

So, even crap teams can cause teams problems at home, it's XI v XI on the field not €150m v €10m. Besides, has no one watched Italy in the last 15 years? I've seen much stronger Italy teams (including ones that got to the EC final and later won the World Cup) give up chances and struggle against teams like the Faroe Islands, Wales, Lithuania, Georgia, Belarus, Cyprus and Moldova. Nothing will ever change in that respect for Italy not matter how in form the team might be previously, I'm just relived that a team with such rock bottom confidence can win a game that they struggled in.

If you didn't get it mentality is the biggest problem that Italy face, which is where XI v XI comes in, because 11 motivated players with a clear idea of what they are doing will always cause problems to 11 superior individual players with low confidence and little cohesion. Cup matches can even decrease this further to simply a motivational issue, as has been shown many, many times in football.
