FYI, he made 15 long-ball passes, 13 of which were accurate. In comparison, Pirlo attempted 14, of which 10 were successful. 82/90 successful passes with a passing accuracy of 91%.

Am I missing something here, or is your hatred unjustified?

Why can't he keep it simple and just give it to pirlo or Licht! Jebiga
Maybe cos he's instructed by Conte to do that? It's not like he's disobeying Conte and punting balls up top.

On two occasions he gifted Palermo the chance to properly get a chance on goal, Ilicic should have perhaps scored on one. Defensively, as I pointed out in the match thread, he was fine in my opinion.

And he's killing Licht with some of those chipped passes.
Haha I got some old images back to me as I read that. I remember Montero, Conte and pretty much every other one in defense/midfields passes to Zidane. All powered with 110 % strength in breast height from 10 feet away. I was always worried watching that and always delighted to see how Zidane solved the situation - every - time. Everyone knew they simply had to power to ball somewhere close to Zidane and it'll be alright.
