Well, I won't moan. I'm glad that with only 2m from our transfer budget we bought a player who is currently one of the best Italian Cbs (which of course doesn't mean that he is or he will be a great defender).

But the cheap bastard inside me thinks that maybe we could have done a little better. I see no reason why would Bonucci be rated the same as Criscito. Same age, but Criscito is more proven and highly rated in Italy. We could have even earned something from this swap instead of making it a direct swap. As for Almiron and Bari, that could have been a direct swap. 100% of Almiron's contract for 50% Bonucci.
Instead of paying 2m, we could have earned 2m and made those swap deals.

Bah, whatever.

He'll complement Chiellini perfectly Alen. Where Chiellini is an interceptive defender, Bonucci is more of the covering type.

As for the price, if you are the one wanting someone you'll always be the one paying. Perhaps we could've sit on this one longer and make Genoa come to use for Criscito, but status quo wasnt going to help anyone..

Good signing all in all.

@Dom,
Yeah, like I said I won't moan and I'm glad we signed him. I just have a minor regret that we didn't do a little better. This regret will probably disappear completely when Bonucci steps on the pitch in our jersey.

I do like Ranocchia more from the Bario duo, though. He looked more elegant and It would have been great to see a beauty and the beast partnership in our central defense.

Forza Bonucci in any case. As Dom says, it's a good signing.

Yes, he is better. As for our call to Inter, I think we told them not to interfere with Krasic while we're gonna focus on Bonucci and leave them Ranocchia.

what is the price? kinda confused with all the co-ownership BS.
Bonucci is half owned by Bari and Genoa so we have to deal with both.

As reported:
- For Bari's half we pay 2m eur (or 2.5m, I'm not sure) and we give them full ownership of Almiron
- For Genoa's half of Bonucci we give them our half of Criscito.

Palladino isn't really involved in this deal. We co-own Palladino with Genoa and instead of Genoa or Juve buying the other half of Palladino, we just decided to continue with the co-ownership. Palla will stay in Genoa and they will pay his wages, but he will continue being co-owned by us and Genoa.

I was one of the few who shouted loud that Giorgio should stay as CB, I even wanted to ban anyone who suggests moving him back to the wing. However, things are changing and there are no decent left backs available with an affordable price and please don't tell me Criscito is decent, he's barely average.

And now since we got Bonucci and we are getting Gallas, maybe the CBs are more available at the moment, so I don't see the harm in doing that, at least for one season where we clearly are trying to do a transition, and at times like these some exceptions help the transition.

Yeah I do see your point. Still, Chiellini is damn good as a CB and he even scores more. We'd lose a lot with that move even if he'd be decent on the left. His passes are pretty bad while he's not a bullet, far from it as he can't run past opponents. Personally I'd give my best to sign Kolarov and I'd even offer Giovinco and De Ceglie. He'd take this squad on another level.

I'm not convinced of having Chiellini on the left.

Shall we get another CB and move Giorgio to the left?
Why on earth should we revert his position back to his former
He was a good LB but not something special then we changed his position to CB where he blossomed and has become one of the best CB in the world. The best IMO.
so we take him a step back he will be a good LB but our CB position will be downgraded a lot

The best thing we could do is sign Kolarov but there are some other options and cheaper ones don`t have names on my mind but they exist...

Bonucci, Chiellini, Legrottaglie and Gallas would not be bad cbs for next season.
Gallas would bring experience like Thuram did pre- 2006 and Bonucci has the potential to be as good as Cannavaro was pre- 2006.
