Eric Lanini maintained his scintillating start to the Primavera’s Viareggio Cup campaign with a brace in this afternoon’s 2-1 victory over Avellino.
The frontman, who got the Bianconeri’s defence of last season’s crown up and running courtesy of a hat-trick in Monday’s 4-2 success over Maribor, was again on target as Marco Baroni’s young guns booked their place in the last 16 of the prestigious youth competition.
However, it wasn’t all plain sailing for Juventus, who were forced to wait until the dying stages of a tightly-contested encounter before seeing off their plucky opponents.
With qualification to the knockout stages now guaranteed, Baroni will look to rotate his squad in Friday’s final Group 1 fixture against A.P.I.A. Leichhardt, allowing the opportunity for several fringe players to stake their claim for a first team spot.
