I don't think you can hold it against Lampard for scoring. I would love to have him come here and score as many as he does over there. You are right about his ability to play make though.
I would still be all for signing him because it would show that we still have clout and power to sign big name players (which he is) and it would go someway to convincing players like Gigi, trez and Camo to stay. I really think if used properly Lampard could be a great buy for us and he does get into the box alot so he would help out our numbers up front.
He is mature and assuming we also buy another good defensive midfielder to go with him i think we could challange for the title.
I think a midfield like this:

a lot of people are overly critical of lampard and he is by no means as talented as Kaka but to call everything he does lucky and flukes is way off base. He gets the job done and is good at what he does. he is not flashy but not flukey.
It is like the Liverpool fans who say Inzaghi is all fluke but it is not. that is what he does on a regular basis and we should know seeing how he did it for us too. Inzaghi scores ugly but scores very regularly.
