Just finished watching the full 90 minutes. Fuck me - Barcelona are actually good again.

Cubarsi and Yamal are easily 100m + players in the open market. Unbelievable how good their academy is. Cubarsi, a 17 year old, just held a high line to perfection aaginst Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr at the Bernabeu.

Mbappe was caught offside 8 times. I expect this from a slower forward who's playing on the last shoulder and trying to cheat a yard, not him.

And when it comes to Madrid, I don't think Trent and Davies fixes this. They need 2 more CBs minimum next year, definitely another RB, probably another LB, and a real Kroos replacement in midfield. There's nowhere to hide for Carlo after this thrashing.

since my brother is a long time barca fan (since ~2000), i'm usually familiar with most of their academy players that get an opportunity with the first team. and he can actually rave about a few random newbies every year. casado for instance never played in the league before this season, now he's a starter and looked brilliant yesterday. besides him, yamal, cubarsi, balde and pedri were all la masia grown players, all u21 and all played very well. (+ they also started fermin lopez who had a silent game.) it's like fagioli, miretti, barbieri, hasa, yildiz and savona all started for juve and we trashed inda at the meazza lol. and yildiz is not even our youth product like yamal or cubarsi are for barcelona

we're lucky to have a few former next gen players at motta's disposal as squad players. i still consider next gen a successful project but objectively la masia is at a completely different level

Wow, Madrid got raped. I was always skeptical of Mbappe being there and it seems like he is screwing things up a bit. Love to see it.

We need to model NexGen off of Masia. Those players play together since they are in diapers and understand the game at a very young age. If I was in charge of the USMNT I would have a team of people studying their every move at La Masia.

Mbappe peaked at 18. Shadow of the player he was in his Monaco/early PSG days.
