He’s still sad for not having the chance to give all of his contribution in the Champions League final but now Edgar Davids is ready to start the new season and give his usual great help to the team. The Dutch midfielder, despite some market rumours, is still a Bianconero. And he’s happy to be.

“I’m very committed to Turin and Juventus, and, then, I’m happy to be here. Our goal is to keep on winning something important, Scudetto or Champions League. I won’t talk about my contract: anyway, I’ve got no intention to leave Juventus”.

The new season has started and everybody is ready for a new and exciting year. The goal is clear, even if all Bianconeri know that it won’t be easy to conquer again Scudetto, Italian Supercup and the Champions League final. But Buffon is optimistic about the new Juventus.

“Since I arrived here everything has gone well. The project we started two years ago is going on well too and I’m sure we can achieve other goals. Re-start from Manchester? For what attains me, I’ll re-start from the victory with the National team. Last season we did a wonderful march, even if it didn’t end as we hoped. But in few days I forgot the final against AC Milan, because I’m a positive person and I’m lucky to be like this”.

An exciting day for coach Marcello Lippi: "This year we are the strongest. We have taken the right players for every role. One of the more important objectives was to reinforce the team on the basis of age. The new players will be learn to play in a prestigious team. Last year we haven't only scored the last penalty in the last game, but we also gave big emotions to our supporters".

Holidays are over and the season starts again with the usual spirit, big concentration and the will to be the main characters.

Alessandro Del Piero thinks about the future, but a return to the past cannot be missed: “It’s clear – he admits – that we constantly think about the Champions League final, but also to the great season we played.

All of this adds to our experience, now we start again. Our psychological condition is very good, we have to use what the end of last season has presented: the enthusiasm for the win of the Scudetto and the disappointment for the loss of the Champions League.

"We have always been there to fight on every front and it’s been important”.

Goals are the same: “I have been thinking a lot during this summer about the Champions League, and I thought there is a big spirit from our point of view to win both the European cup as well as in Italy".

"So we will have to win everything also because the team, that was already competitive, has been enriched by precious elements".

Among them there is Fabrizio Miccoli. To the question if he feels him as a competitor Del Piero replies: “I don’t feel it, I am very glad he arrived here and I think he will do very well”.

The first official match will be the Italian Super cup: “We start from were we ended, against Milan. It will have a particular flavour because we have been the two teams that played the final of the Champions League“.

Some points out that it’s the first time he starts the season with the contract at the last year. Del Piero replies: “Still not for a long time. I haven’t signed yet, but there are no problems at all, it’s just a question of time".

Only Thuram is missing to complete the puzzle. Today Stephen Appiah has joined the Juventus 2003/04 team lineup.

After some days in Ghana, were he has become even more famous being a Juventus player, the young midfielder has taken part to his first training with the new mates.

Appiah knew already people like Thuram, Buffon and Di Vaio, team mates at Parma. "How did they welcome me? Buffon told me Juve took me to just play in their Primavera!! Anyway, I’ve just played a bit and I have to say I’m amazed to notice how fast Juve plays”.

Appiah wants to keep an important role at Juve: "I’m here to stay how much longer I can. Juve is not an arriving place and not a starting place. I’m here to learn. Replacement of Davids? No, he’s more aggressive than me ".

After two Scudettos in two years, Gigi Buffon has the new fire to start a new season as a star. The only one goal it will be to repeat the excellent season of the last year, trying to conquer the Champions League missed at Manchester.

“If we would have won in Manchester, it would have been an incredible season. We’ll try again, beginning with Supercoppa. With Milan, the first revenge”.

Some newbyes are part of the team as Appiah, Legrottaglie and Miccoli, not to mention the return of Maresca: "They are players able to fit in our mechanism. We try to play it all once again in Europe and Italy. In Champions we are all at the same level, the best team is Real Madrid that has been reinforced by the arrival of Beckham. In Italy we are the team to be beaten as champions in charge, but also Milan is dangerous. I would not understimate Lazio. I think Sampdoria could be the under dog, with Doni. And I would not forget Chievo”.
